Importantly, the allure of buying a project jeep can be romantic. The reality of restoring a jeep can be quite different, expensive and overwhelming without the right tools and resources. “Overdrive was in my 59 Willys for 2 years, approx 2000 miles on it. Planetary unit with everything needed to install; gasket, bolts, shifter, literature w/ instructions.”

“I have 2 Olds and 1 Buick all aluminum 215 V8 engines. All are 2 bbl manifolds. I have 2 bellhousings, a flywheel and clutch and also a flex plate for an automatic. There’s been some work done. There is definitely value here.
“This is a partially restored 1956 Willy’s M38A1(similar to CJ-5) It was modified significantly from original by the previous owner. I started refurbishing it to running condition again and have lost the interest and time to work on it. There is no engine, the motor mounts are set up for a small block Chevy. Included but not pictured is the rebuilt T-90 3 speed tranny and transfer case, and un-restored hood, grill, fenders, dashboard, windshield, rollbar, radiator, seats. Accessories for a small block chevy engine and several boxes of the old parts. It has current Non-Op CA Title. Asking $1000 OBO.”

Work has been done, but more to do.
“Very solid, V6 heaters, SM 420 trans, disc brakes p.s., frame is boxed and perfect, brand new springs/shocks/shackles, body is ready to paint, likes very little to finish. I have seats and belts $2500.”

(01/14/2011) This runs well, but the body is rough according to the seller. This also has a pop up of some kind on the hood.
“1949 Jeep CJ2A running gear is all original and recently rebuild all bearings and brakes. Drives good, especially for an old Jeep. This probably isn’t a good candidate for a body restoration, but it is one heck of a fun mountain rig. Comes with vintage arctic package hard top and doors with sliding windows. Also comes with tow bar and towing lights, it tows easy and has hubs in the front. Manual 4 speed, PTO take-off. This had been converted to 12v and has an electronic ignition so you don’t have to mess with points. The only gauge that doesn’t work is the fuel gauge and it needs new brake lights.
