About eWillys
Welcome to eWillys.com, a website for vintage jeep enthusiasts. I update this website nearly every day with jeep deals, jeep history, interesting reader projects, jeep related info, and more.
These quick searches can help you find things on eBay. People list in the wrong categories all the time, so don't be surprised to see brochures in the parts area for example. This section used to be split into jeeps, parts and other categories, but recent changes to eBay will require this information to be recoded.
The links to posts below show jeeps grouped by models, condition, and other ways. Some of these jeeps are for sale and others have been sold. If you are unsure whether a vehicle is still for sale or not, email me at d [at] ewillys.com for more info.
Importantly, the allure of buying a project jeep can be romantic. The reality of restoring a jeep can be quite different, expensive and overwhelming without the right tools and resources. So, tread carefully when purchasing a "project". If you have any concerns about buying a vintage jeep, or run across a scam, feel free to contact me for help, comments or concerns .

In an email today, Jeff mentioned a movie I had not heard of called DIRT (IMDB Link). Released in 1979, the movie follows a narrator around as he explores the wide-world of offroad racing. It’s got some especially great/scary clips of early auto racing. The rest of the movie shows all kinds of different offroad racing in the US during the late 70s (sand, water, hill climbs, baja, snow climbs, and more). One item I had hoped to see, but didn’t, was PNW racing, though I didn’t have time to watch every clip.
After seeing some of the posts about the old Desert Dog and Bobcat ads, Jeff dropped me a note saying he’s been enjoying the old ads and old pics as it reminds him of the busy Northwest days of jeep clubs, playdays and racing in the northwest. So, he forwarded me a pic of one of his jeeps (he also has a sand drag jeep listed below for sale).
He’s been nice enough to let me post it. I really love the creative paint job — I haven’t seen anything quite like it.
Jeff writes, “This bobcat jeep was bought back in 1983 as a project. It was a body and a HUGE pile of parts, to which I’m sure your readers can relate. Currently, it runs a 355 chev w/ ford toploader 4 speed, a dana 20 case, a ford 9inch w/ 35 spline summers axles spool nod case and 6.00 gears. The front is a gutted mdl 27 w/ a mustang rack. The cage is chromoly. The car weights 2250lbs w/o a driver.”
(06/01/2010) This is a little rough, but looks mostly original to my less-than-perfect eye.
“For Sale or trade a 1962 Willys Surrey Gala (DJ-3A) Original condition runs and drives, many new parts asking $5000 or would consider trade for any Jeep/Willys CJ, Toyota Land Cruiser FJ40, or Boat.
Many new parts, in good running condition. The following items are NEW: clutch & pressure plate, brake master cylinder, head light switch, dimmer switch, water pump, head gasket, fan belt, points, plugs, plug wires, coil, cap and rotor, rebuilt carb. Radiator boiled out and professionally referbished. Brakes have been gone through and new wheel cylinders kits installed. Drivers seat bottom was re-done with pink and white vinyl. All lights work, all gauges work, new tires on rear, good used tires on front. Jeep runs and drives great. It is missing the original top and top frame, spare tire holder and the rear bumper. Clear title.”
“1964 willys ice cream trk rt hand drive 4cyl auto approx 80 k miles. Truck has on board generator signs work music box works needs to be freshened up a little call billy top hat.”
It’s not much of a VEC any more, but it still has the indents at the very least. The tires and rims appear in good condition. This might be a good price. The seller notes there is no rust, but there is an odd plate underneath the passenger step.
“Runs, no rust,283v8,less than 300 mi on motor, roll cage.bikini top, lifted, many extras, custom made rack on back removable, good tires 5 total”
If the parts are good, this might be a good price (or perhaps even get it for less). It looks like the suspension needs some reconfiguring. It has some nice rims, a ramsey winch, and a rebuilt chev 350 among other items.
“This is my dream project I started 6 years ago. I have run out of time, money and patience, so make me an offer and get it out of my garage.
-Titled 1953 Willys CJ-3B sitting on a shortened 1979 Waggy frame.
-Dana 44 axles
– New 16” eagle alloy wheels with Cooper Discoverer tires 285/75/16
-Newly Rebuilt Chevy 350 engine
-Th350 tranny
-Original Dana/spicer 18 transfer case w/adapter to tranny
-Painless wiring kit still new in box
-Ramsey #8000 winch””
The seller says the parts are all there (though not shown) and the body is in great shape.
“i have a jeep cj3b highhood for sale with a clean title. its a resto that was not completed i bought it years ago, looks like i’m not going to get to it soon.i have almost all the parts to put back together the pics only show the roller but it comes with tons of parts.the pics don’t show any rust because it only has one small spot on the body and thats it, this thing is in amazing shape. i’m asking $3000 obo or would be interested in trades”
