This section used to be split into jeeps, parts and other categories, but recent changes to eBay will require this information to be recoded.

Importantly, the allure of buying a project jeep can be romantic. The reality of restoring a jeep can be quite different, expensive and overwhelming without the right tools and resources. “Free 1947 Willys CJ2A. This is free because it has almost no usable parts.No engine or tranny.Body and frame are rotted. It’s basically just scrape metal. It does have the original matching front and rear axle. Most everything else has been removed or is rusted away. Front tires and wheels are not included. You will need a trailer or flatbed to take it away.

“This is a 1949 Jeepster with a 440 six pack motor. Has been in the family for 50 years. Has been kept inside at all times. I am selling because I have no time to drive it and enjoy it, hopefully someone else will enjoy it as much as I did when I had the time. The car has a mopar 440 six pack engine, bored 0.60 over, has large racing cam, carborators have jet kit put in them, 727 transmission with shift kit, 3000 stahl convertor. Pictures show car with 4 barrel no six pack ….”
It’s probably a bit much for a non-running project.

Dan has provided us with some additional coverage of the resurrection of his Grandfather’s jeep. This might just become a series :-). Besides, I’m a sucker for anyone will to take the time to breath life into the family jeep. There’s plenty of people who would have junked this CJ-5. Thanks for sharing Dan!
Dan writes, “One of the great things about a Jeep project is that you can work on all the little things while you save up for or look for those parts for the big jobs. Here is a brief look at some of my smaller repairs. First, here is the project Jeep. A 1955 CJ5. [editor’s note: the front shackles were reversed on this CJ-5 which produced some understandable discussions about whether this was actually a M-38A1. Clearly it’s not :-).]
Starting with the gas tank, after cleaning all the surface rust off of the gas tank, I discovered a series of little holes. Now you can easily find an after-market steel or plastic tank, but for about $5 I may be able to fix it.
Here is the gas tank all cleaned up and patched with epoxy (JB Weld). If it works than I saved about $100. If it doesn’t work, well then it didn’t cost me too much to give it a try.
UPDATE: These are no longer for sale. I keep this post just for ideas.
Jim writes, “I’m tired of not having anything out there anymore for Willys. For example, the only replacement seats you can get for an early Willys are either military or black vinyl. How boring! There are no more bikini tops of any variety – everyone pretty much runs the same boring top. Continue reading
This is a nice looking CJ-3B, but what’s going on with the rear springs?

“I am selling my cj3a to make room for my other projects. It has a 4 bolt 350 chevy with an sm420 truck 4 speed, dana 20 t-case, dana 44 rear end and stock front. Brand new 33.12.50 BFG mud terrains. Completely rewired with painless harness. Needs brake work and the rebuilt 4 speed still has trouble shifting into 2nd. Does run and drive (I drive it to work on Friday’s and weekends).
