Importantly, the allure of buying a project jeep can be romantic. The reality of restoring a jeep can be quite different, expensive and overwhelming without the right tools and resources. This March 24, 1955, article from the Santa Cruz Sentinel shows Boys Scouts readying a jeep display to demonstrate both traffic safety and jeep camping.
Pictured are Bruce Donald, Bill Scout, Pete Schipper and advisor Charles Cloud. The group was affiliated with Explorer Post 89.
This press photo’s caption’s text and ID number looks identical to the one posted in 2019 (at bottom), except now the caption paper itself is trimmed and now in color (unlike the one at bottom).

Originally posted May 16, 2019: This press photo shows the lost point in the Burma Road (as of 1944).
“American Jeep on the Burma Road.
An American Jeep Rides through a section of the Burma Road in China that is cut right into the rocky mountainside. This is at the road’s lowest point of elevation, 2960 feet. Picture form the Chinese Ministry of information. Associated Press Photo EEM 10-13-1944 430P CNS.”

This unusual build is a modified Mighty Mite.
“1960’s Mighty Mite Jeep. Aluminum body, fiberglass hood and fenders from a Toyota Landcruiser. 4×4 positraction front & rear. 4 speed with high & low range, Independent suspension with inboard brakes. Power rack and Pinon steering. Engine is a aluminum 215 block shaved & board out to 327 cubic inch. 300 crank, 300 heads, needle bearing roller cam, Chaffer aluminum fly wheel, remote oil filter with oil cooler. Engine built by Sam Sturges & Less Black Selling as is the engine install has not been able to be completed do to health problems. All it need is to be buttoned up and its ready to roll. THIS JEEP IS STRICTLY FOR OFF ROAD USE ONLY!”

“1948 Willys tow truck. This has a 228 Studebaker engine that is estimated to be a 1951. Needs restoration. The engine will turn over. Just don’t have time for it.”

(03/112021) This has a post 1972 solid front clip.
“Good fiberglass CJ5 Jeep tub and hood. Comes with steel steps in photo. Great for a crawler project light weight and rust proof. New CJ tubs sell for close to 4000 between body and nose.”

“This is a fiber glass jeep with a Dodge 360 motor automatic with Dana 300 has paddle tires but not in great shape but nice ultra lightweight wheels. Motor has a electric water pump and a summit racing starter. All that it needs is a radiator and fuel lines hooked up asking”
