About eWillys
Welcome to eWillys.com, a website for vintage jeep enthusiasts. I update this website nearly every day with jeep deals, jeep history, interesting reader projects, jeep related info, and more.
These quick searches can help you find things on eBay. People list in the wrong categories all the time, so don't be surprised to see brochures in the parts area for example. This section used to be split into jeeps, parts and other categories, but recent changes to eBay will require this information to be recoded.
The links to posts below show jeeps grouped by models, condition, and other ways. Some of these jeeps are for sale and others have been sold. If you are unsure whether a vehicle is still for sale or not, email me at d [at] ewillys.com for more info.
Importantly, the allure of buying a project jeep can be romantic. The reality of restoring a jeep can be quite different, expensive and overwhelming without the right tools and resources. So, tread carefully when purchasing a "project". If you have any concerns about buying a vintage jeep, or run across a scam, feel free to contact me for help, comments or concerns .
This M-38A1 press photo with a mine detector made it into a lot of newspapers. Here’s an example from the April 20, 1966, issue of the Crowley Post-Signal out of Crowley, Louisiana:
“1966 Press Photo U.S. Army jeep mounted mine detector shown in St. Louis. This is an original press photo. St. Louis: New mobile mine detector perfected for Vietnam will allow the jeep mounted detector to clear 6 foot path at speeds from 10 to 1 mph depending on terrain. The transistorized probe is counterbalanced by large spring in front of jeep to prevent the wheels of the device from exerting enough pressure to set off a mine. On detection of mine the device automatically brakes and declutches the jeep. The mine detector was demonstrated at United States Army Mobility Equipment Center in St. Louis 4/19.Photo measures 9 x 7.25inches. Photo is dated 04-19-1966.”
“High Quality, Handcrafted Wood Jeep. These are vintage style toys. No metal was used to make the Jeeps. They are crafted with wood and glue only. The wood varies but pine and alder were primary used. The wheels turn and the windshield goes up and down. Each Jeep measures approximately 8″ x 4″ x 2.75″.”
“Handcrafted Wood Jeep with Trailer. No metal was used in making these items and stay true to the vintage style toys that inspired them. The wood varies but pine and alder were primarily used. “Started frame up restoration, lost interest. The tub is in awesome condition, for being almost 70 years old. It is not rusted out. The small parts are done and painted. The floating Dana 44 rear diff is complete with new 5:38 gears. The Dana 25 front diff needs to be assembled. Comes with tailgate, windshield, and hood, also comes with the fully functional original trans and t-case, and a spare trans and t-case. There is also a complete Best Top soft top with soft doors and the frame work. Has a clean Colorado title. Need to sell complete, I will not part it out or sell parts individually. This would be a good starter project for someone looking to go back to factory military or custom flat fender. Parts are easily sourced on the net”
Could be worth a look. Given the oil filter bracket, this may be a CJ-3A era engine.
“Here is a Willys Jeep Industrial engine that originally powered a welder. The welder was bad and scrapped. This engine is loose and turns over but I’ve never heard it run; it was supposedly running when the welder unit failed. Should make a good engine for parts or might be restored. I understand these were used in the early Willys Jeeps including the CJ2A. Asking 450 or make an offer. It will part out for more than my asking price, so if it doesn’t sell soon I’ll just part it out. Text is best. If you are reading this ad then it’s still available; please be serious as I’ve dealt with all the deadbeats I want to.”
