About eWillys
Welcome to eWillys.com, a website for vintage jeep enthusiasts. I update this website nearly every day with jeep deals, jeep history, interesting reader projects, jeep related info, and more.
These quick searches can help you find things on eBay. People list in the wrong categories all the time, so don't be surprised to see brochures in the parts area for example. This section used to be split into jeeps, parts and other categories, but recent changes to eBay will require this information to be recoded.
The links to posts below show jeeps grouped by models, condition, and other ways. Some of these jeeps are for sale and others have been sold. If you are unsure whether a vehicle is still for sale or not, email me at d [at] ewillys.com for more info.
Importantly, the allure of buying a project jeep can be romantic. The reality of restoring a jeep can be quite different, expensive and overwhelming without the right tools and resources. So, tread carefully when purchasing a "project". If you have any concerns about buying a vintage jeep, or run across a scam, feel free to contact me for help, comments or concerns .
Bob asked me to list his M-38 that’s for sale. He’s got more pics, but I don’t have the bandwidth at the moment to download them. You can contact him at 412 576 3325
“1952 M38 (MC35123). Frame off restoration. 24v (12v ignition). Includes locking hubs, directionals, rifle rack, 24v distributor, wires and spark plugs.”
Some of the serial numbers are the same, but it also appears to include some new ones (I only did a cursory comparison). This appeared in the July 11, 1946, issue of The Honolulu Advertiser.
This ad appeared in the September 06, 1946, issue of the Honolulu Star-Bulletin. I have not compared this list to the previous lists, but it sure appears that a lot of jeeps sold over the summer of 1946. This list also contains more non-jeep vehicles.
UPDATE (late Monday night): Well, it being 2020, this plan went awry. A few hours before we were going to leave, Ann’s mother had a breathing episode (she has COPD), so Ann couldn’t join me. That means I’m doing a solo trip with our 10-month old puppy and returning with a second puppy.
We’ve decided to get a full sister for our newest pup, as we don’t think our older dog will be around much longer (he’s got a bad heart). So, we’ll be on the road the next few days to Minnesota and back. Updates will continue, but I likely won’t be very responsive to email. We don’t plan on any reader stops or fun explorations, so I expect there will be little to report. Our goal is to beat the coming cold weather, avoid the virus, and return quickly so that Ann’s mother isn’t by herself for too long (we’ve lined up support for her while gone).
Has some tool box rust. Overall looks pretty good.
“This is an all original (except paint) CJ2A. Runs great, needs nothing! New king pins and fuel pump. Top is included. Also door frames but I have no material for them. 4 X 4 works great and these jeeps go almost anywhere, so fun. There is a little rust under the body, floors are solid as is the frame.
I’m on the road a lot so I might not answer right away. If it’s listed it’s still available, please don’t ask. Thanks Jimmy. Any questions welcomed!!’
“I Bought this jeep for a total redo. Previous owner I’m told owned it 20+ years, garage kept and it shows. Divorce forced sale. From the pile of receipts I have he was slowly redoing it. The mechanical work seems to be all done as it runs great, shifts good with good oil pressure. I bought it not running as it was about half way through a 12 volt conversion which I finished and the carb was shot.
“1951 Willys Jeepster Resto-mod powered by a rebuilt 1955 Ford 312 with rebuilt automatic transmission, Mustang II Independent Front Suspension, Front Disc Brakes, and new Dual Master Cylinder. Rack and pin steering, reinforced frame (to handle the extra torque), 12-volt conversion. Painted Kelsey Hayes Wired Wheels.
Full restoration of the body. Distressed metal removed and new welded in place.
Painted in 1955 Ford ‘Seafoam Green and Black’, which is absolutely stunning.
All new interior, done by the Jeepster Man in New Jersey.
This drives like a modern car, with plenty of power to go and stop. You will not see another one in this condition on the East Coast.”
