Importantly, the allure of buying a project jeep can be romantic. The reality of restoring a jeep can be quite different, expensive and overwhelming without the right tools and resources. “You’re looking at a ground-up restoration of a classic Jeep Willys CJ-2 “Alpha”. Restoration was finished in mid-2013.
I spared nothing in this rebuild. I have been a Willys fan all my life, and I wanted this to be right down to every last detail. This project took months and became quite involved.
The rebuild includes:
* Fully rebuilt engine and transmission
* Completely new clutch assembly
* New brakes, drums and brake lines
* New springs (front and rear)
* New gas tank
* New gauges and wiring
* New front seats and steering wheel
* New rims and tires
* New paint
Mechanically, it’s flawless. Drives perfectly and true to its heritage. Power plant is the stock Willys 2.2L “134” 4-cylinder, and transmission is the famous Willys 3-speed, which is reliable and bulletproof in its simplicity. Only ~200 miles on rebuild.”
