UPDATE: Bob notes the jeep is the museum next to the ship and not inside the ship.
Bob took time during his visit to Alabama to visit the USS Alabama Memorial Park in Mobile, Alabama. It turns out there’s a jeep in the museum next to this old fighter. If you have time, you might want to check out this unique opportunity to explore a battleship.
UPDATE: **SOLD** Was on eBay.
This truck looks good, though it has two different types of rims.
“This auction is for a 1950 4×4 Willys Jeep Pickup. It is in turn key running condition with a transplanted small block ford V8 mated (289) to a 3 speed manual transmission. It has been fully painted (Corvette yellow) from frame up including the interior and engine bay. It has full new interior with Ford explorer seats. all door pannell and custom roof piece done.
Tires are oversize from stock and rims are aftermarket. Has original style spare on drivers side of bed. Wood bed rails custom built and installed. The tail gate has been hand painted with wood effect. All glass in good condtion. The truck has a electric fan for cooling and a new Optima blue top for exellent starting. Cooling system has had radiator fully flushed and pressure tested and new thermostat. Also has new starter and new starter solenoid.
Fires right up on the first turn of the key. Doesnt smoke or anything funny. Front and rear bumpers are in pretty good shape. Over all the truck is pretty straight. If you look in the pictures you will see that the floor in the bed is not perfect and pitted but the actual panels and fenders all over are nice clean and straight.
This truck has the V-Grill. Cab is solid and floors are not rusted. I have the before pictures as well so you can see that it is not just thrown together with bondo and some cheap paint to hide a nightmare. Truck is drove at least once a week so its not just a show pice either. Nevada based truck sot thats a great thing because of our dry desert. This truck definately gets the looks and is only being sold because the owner has a willys wagon and shevy pickup that are taking more of the priority. So it needs to go to make room in the garage. Owner hates to see it go but figures its the smart thing to do. Title is clean and clear with current Nevada registration. Ready to sign it over to its new home.”
This looks great, though I think the flames on the ceiling could probably go.
“1960 Willys Wagon
This is an older restoration. Original drivetrrain was replaced with a small block Chevrolet V-8 and 2wd automatic transmission.
Owner started a power disc brake conversion, but was not completed.
This jeep runs, drives and is driven weekly.
Recently, the interior was upgraded to newer, leather bucket seats and custom headliner.”
This is supposed to ahve the original deck. It looks nice. I can’t tell whose logo is on the size.
“Truck is mint condition it still has original wood deck in the back from 1951 has a stright 6 motor is a 5 sed truck is a awesome show truck for any type of antique trick collector give me a call or shoot me a text at 6097051348 if interested thanks you your time.”

This looks like a solid M-38A1. It has some odd gauge behavior according to the seller.
“As I can tell, this is as close as possible to a 100% restoration of a military Jeep. I bought it about 6 years ago in this condition. The odometer had about 13,000 miles on it, but the speedometer cable was broke. I have since installed a new cable, and the odometer now shows 16,100 miles. This is a fun Jeep to drive and a head turner. I drive it in Veteran Day’s parades, and drive it to car shows within a 60 miles radius from where I live in Southeast Kansas.
It drives nicely for its age. I have recently installed a carburetor kit and points, condensor, and rotor. I have also installed new spark plugs and spark plug wires about two years ago. The oil pressure consisently shows over 40 PSI. Other instrument guages are erratic by working sometimes and not the other, even after I replaced the spider wire harness. Do not have the expert knowlrdge to troubleshoot this aspect.
The 24V generator works even though the guage does not show charge, and the water guage works that I had never had this Jeep over heat. The manual windshield wipers work, but again I could not troubleshoot the vacuum operation. I am explaining everything about this Jeep that cannot be seen in the accompanying pictures. The Jeep still has the 24V sealed system and all lights work properly icluding the instrument panel and blackout marker lights. Mechanically everything works properly and it starts right away even in cold weather.
I love to drive this Jeep whenever weather permits. It has always been garaged since I owned it. The body is very straight and solid and the person who restored it did so with the correct paint and markings. No visible rust seen anywhere except under the passenger seat whre some minor rust shows on a channel, but the rust contained and painted over. I cannot arrange for shipping since I live in a small community which is not exposed to adequate services. I am willing to deliver the Jeep on my trailer within 100 miles radius of Iola, Kansas.”
UPDATE: Back on eBay
(11/25/2012) The seller provides a variety of details on the rebuild.
“This Jeep has been carefully rebuilt from the ground up over 3 years by my father, a retired certified ASEA mechanic. Starting from a sandblasted frame, new-off-shelf (N.O.S) parts were used whenever possible. Every piece has been carefully rebuilt and reassembled – you won’t find a cleaner, or more authentic rebuild of a 1947 Willy’s. Lots of fun to take off-road, or cruise around town with the windshield down. See below for details on each component.”
