Importantly, the allure of buying a project jeep can be romantic. The reality of restoring a jeep can be quite different, expensive and overwhelming without the right tools and resources. (07/17/2012) The seller notes that this is in great original condition. It looks solid and while there is lots of original jeep here, the drain holes have been plugged and it appears from the pictures that the front and lower sides have been painted differently than the rear portion of the body. I suspect there has been some body work done.

SEATS HAVE BEEN RECOVERD WITH REAR SEAT/LOCKABLE STORAGE UNIT ADDED. GREAT CONDITION. BODY IS ORIGINAL STEEL WITH NO PATCHING, HAS SOFT TOP AND DOORS, HEATER. ALL GUAGES WORK, LIGHTS WORK ETC. ENGINE, TRANSMISSION, STEERING, BRAKES, GENERATOR, TRANSFER CASE HAVE ALL BEEN REBUILT AND EVRYTHING WORKS. RIGHT NOW IT’S RUNNING RICH BECAUSE I REMOVED THE CARB. AND ADJUSTED IT, BUT I’M NOT A PRO SO I AM STILL WORKING ON THAT. OTHERWISE IT PURRS.”

“This is a reserve auction for a 1942 Willys MB, serial number MB127011, date of delivery 11 March 1942. This Jeep was manufactured with a limited number of Jeeps after Willys started manufacturing WWII Jeeps with the “pressed grille” sheet metal type of front grille, (only 1202 by serial number). The earlier front grilles were the “slat grille” type (the last slat grille serial number was MB125809). This MB is a motorpool type restoration. When the Jeep was obtained by a prior owner there was already a mixture of MB and GPW parts on it. It is suspected that it was used on base at Camp Shelby, MS for years where the mixture of parts originated during on-base maintenance. The hood & bumper markings are in honor of the 124th Infantry Division (Dixie Division). The frame serial number is orginial. The glove box data plates are reproductions made by Robert de Ruyler at Dataplates4U.com. The T84 transmission, transfer case and rear axle are GPW componets. The orginial body was so shot that it was replaced with a repro body. The transmission and transfer case have been rebuilt and runs great. All bearings have been replaced in the axles as well as new brake cylinders, brake lines and brake shoes. The engine is a 1946 CJ2a L134 flat head that has also been rebuilt and runs great. The radiator is a CJ2a radiator. Included with the Jeep are, repro cloth top & frame, 5 repro combat wheels and tires, period dated gas can, shovel & axe, jack and tow rope. Receipts and photos of restoration are available if wanted. This vehicle is titled and tagged in Tennessee and will include a Bill of Sale”

“All steal beautiful 100% rust free body. All modification’s were professionally done. 425 HP small block Chev V8, 4 bolt main, big rods and forged high compression piston’s, GM performance unstamped angle plug camel hump ported heads ($2800.00), Edelbrock “Scorpion” intake and 750 Holley carb, full roller motor, complete MSD ignition, Moroso 7qt oil pan, fender dump headers, complete functioning nitros system (runs optional), lots of bolt on polished stuff also (alternator, valve covers, air cleaner, etc.). Top Loader 4spd with Hurst linkage and new 12″clutch, flywheel and pressure plate. New front and rear drive lines. Dana 60 rear end, Dana 44 front, both lockers with 4.10 gears. Looped drive line, strapped rear end. New shocks. Dutchman axles ,4-wheel power disc brakes, power steering, chrome tilt steering column and wood Chev steering wheel. Dana 20 Twin stick transfer case with billet shifters. Painless wiring and switch box, Sun gauges including tach, New wipers, heater box, gas tank, optima battery and aluminum rear mounted box, all lighting is new. New full roll cage. New Best top with tinted windows and new Best front seats. Locking “Tuffy” center console with mounted internally CD remote stereo, CB, fire extinguisher. New windshield frame and glass. UPDATE: **SOLD** Was $29,000. It appears to have a column shift.
“This 1946 Willys Jeep, Ser. # 13241 has been totally restored to new condition and I have the old parts. It has no miles, I have taken to shows on a trailer. I am 78 and get my kicks from building/restoring, not driving. I will sell or trade for a newer model Wrangler or Rubicon, V/6, auto with low miles of like value.”

“A very original condition truck! Lived on an apple orchard in Ct. since 1967. Odometer reads 95k. Its a 6 cylinder with a 3 speed transmission. Overall condition is good. Truck will need some body work on the cab corners. Interior is in good shape. It comes with a plow. Runs good, drives, plenty of power, 4wd not working but transfer case and front drive shaft are spinning when engaged. New baby, no time to fix truck. I can’t see letting it fade away in the barn!”

“1947 WILLYS CJ2A, VIN 98722, dressed up as a WWII Willys MB jeep, (IT IS NOT A WWII JEEP), the previous owner started the rebuild, he repaired the body, gas tank, put new seals and bearings as needed in front axle, transmission/transfercase, new shocks…we finished the rebuild with…complete professional rebuild of engine, (machine shop charges were $1747) and that did not include any labor, (see photo), Rick has been a personal friend almost 40 years and does these jeep engines as a favor, as he usually builds high horsepower race engines, original Willys air breather, new clutch, went through rear axle with new wheel cylinders, seals, brake shoes, new steel lines, new rubber lines, new master cylinder, steering bell crank bearing kit, new 12 volt alternator, new battery, new wiring with soldered connections, new WWII olive drab paint, military canvas seat cushions, new WWII oil can/bracket under hood, new WWII MB exhaust system, new temperature gauge, all lights work, including headlights (new switch), bright/dim, parking marker lights, bright light indicator, dash light, tail/stop light, backup light, WWII fender blackout drive light/bracket (has a NOS 1942 6 volt bulb) with volt reducer, horn, siren on fender works (use only in parades), WWII dual hand wipers, hood strap to hold windshield down while driving, has WWII style windshield hold down latches on hood (for looks only). 4 new 6:00 X 16 inch NDT military style tires on original CJ wheels, spare is an original NDT tire (is weather cracked, but has new tube), military gas can/holder and strap, pintle hood, Willys MB bumperettes, heavy duty M38 front bumper with lift brackets, new WWII steering wheel, M38 tailgate is bolted closed for the WWII look.”
