This looks to have a replacement body.

“1948 Jeep Willy’s CJ2A. This jeep has been fully restored around 10 yrs ago. It had 10,000 dollars put into it. It is in extremely good shape and virtually rust free. The paint is still in excellent shape. It has been converted over to 12VDC so as to make it easier to start, especially in cold weather. It has a flathead 4cyl, and runs excellent. The 4 wheel drive works great and shifts smooth. The gear ratio is 5:38. It has been stored indoors. The only trades I am interested in would be a 3/4 to 1 ton 4X4 truck either chevy, gmc, or dodge. Of equal value.

(08/26/2010) According to the seller, this is a factory built Veep.  This is one of the nicer Veeps I’ve seen.

“This is a factory built Veep. They were built from 1979 to 1981. It is an all metal CJ3 body on a really tough square tube chassis with all VW running gear. Really well done and well constructed. Drives smoothly like a VW and not like a jeep CJ3. It is the ultimate ride for street or off road. Would make a great hunting buggy. Will go most anywhere without much effort. I have owned the veep for over 20 years and it has always been stored inside. The bottom of the car is as clean as the top. It has a soft top, frame and doors. The car was appraised about a year ago for insurance purposes at $12,200.00. I am asking $9,250.00 for the car and will look at all offers. Need the storage space.”

It was later purchased by a well-known national television news correspondent, who then had this one of a kind Jeep shipped back to Los Angeles. It has never been driven. With less than 10 miles on the odometer, this classic style “Eisenhower” Jeep is a vintage car collector’s dream. The exterior is like new; it’s been protected in a fully-covered, temperature-controlled garage since its trip to the United States. To our knowledge this is the only Jeep of its kind in the U.S. The brushed-exterior is in supreme condition. The engine is a rebuilt 1953 Willy’s V-8 that needs only minor service. Complete vehicle sold as is.”

Brian pointed out that this crazy vehicle is still available.  It is a 4wd vehicle and I recognize the frame as from a Willys frame, but I recognize little else.
