1952 M-38 Charleston, SC **SOLD**

UPDATE: **SOLD** Was on eBay.

This former movie jeep looks like a good restoration candidate.

“1952 Willys M38 Jeep used as team vehicle in Major League 3 “Back to the Minors”

The movie production company rented this Jeep from me and painted the black “bumblebee stripes” on it in 1998 for the movie.

Click on the link below, to the movie and at 12 minutes into the movie, you will see the Jeep drive into view during the airport scene………………..

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_3iq9u0Bhj0

The Jeep is rust free and has been stored inside my warehouse for the past 30 years, except for the week it was used to film the movie.

This M38 is in extremely good condition and rust free. I bought thisM38 Jeep from the South Carolina Highway Department on Shop Road, in Columbia, SC. The SCHD shop used it as a “pusher” on their yard since the mid 1950’s, hence the extremely low miles under 5000. Please view posted photos!”

1961 Truck Fort Worth, TX **Status Unknown**

• CATEGORIES: Willys Trucks • TAGS: , , This site contains affiliate links for which I may be compensated.

UPDATE: **Status Unknown** Was on eBay

I’m pretty sure the truck bed has been recently painted from black to green, which helps this look better.  It’s too bad the color doesn’t match the rest exactly (given the price).

“Jeep is the original American 4×4, and even decades ago, you can see that Willys was serious about going off-road. This ultra-nice 1961 Willys Jeep pickup an awesome do-anything machine, the Swiss Army knife of off-roaders, and a darned good-looking truck to boot!

Go ahead and try to find another one of these, let alone one this nice. Wait, let me make it easy for you—you won’t. Someone spent the long dollar to bring this one up to show standards, then filled it with comfort and convenience items to create a kind of resto-mod Jeep pickup. The angular sheetmetal, complete with that instantly-recognizable Jeep front end, is completely stock. Whatever this truck’s previous life might have been, it’s now in near show condition with panels that fit together better than new, paint that sparkles like the stuff you find on a new Lexus, and still carrying a big dose of practicality. The medium green paint works especially well with the reproduction Sinclair Gasoline decals on the doors (go ask your grandfather about it), and adds a sense of functionality. The surprisingly big bed has been covered in color-matched bedliner material, so it’s still up for the rough stuff, there are tubular bumpers fore and aft, and just enough chrome to remind you that this truck was built for civilians.

Originally, the interior in a Jeep like this was little more than a lightly upholstered bench and some basic controls, but during the restoration it got a full makeover. Today it offers a trick pleated look that’s totally custom but still looks right in the upright cab. Matching door panels were added to soften the interior a bit, and there are now carpets on the floor, not rubber mats. The original dash is painted to match the body, and the factory-issue gauges are still in the center, but they’re now flanked by a set of Auto Meter Phantom gauges, including a clock, and surprisingly, they look exactly right. There’s also an AM/FM/CD stereo hidden in the glove box with speakers neatly hidden, so you won’t even know it’s there until you hear it.

The engine is still a correct 226 inline-six, the powerplant of choice when reliability matters. Rebuilt and neatly detailed in original olive green, it starts quickly with a pleasant grumble, and idles smoother than you’d expect from a workhorse. Underneath, the chassis was completely restored and with only 98 miles on the restoration, it’s as clean as it’ll ever be. The transmission, transfer case, and both axles have been freshened, and all the lines and hoses are new, so you won’t have to worry about heading off the pavement. And simply nothing looks better on one of these old rigs than the original steel wheels with skinny 7.00-16 off-road tires.”

UPDATE: **SOLD** Was $1900

(09/09/2012) Except the strange contraption on the front bumper this looks pretty stock.  Of course, the paint scheme is odd.

“Old Willys Jeep. “L” head, 4-134 “Go Devil” engine rebuilt in the 1960s. Carter WO carb rebuilt last year. Frame is good, drive train is good. Body is solid but rough. New tires. Needs new springs all round. Comes with 4 extra wheels, homemade cloth top, and draw bar to tow it behind your vehicle. This Jeep would make a great restoration project or a hunting Jeep for running the woods.”

1951 Truck Independence, MO **SOLD**

• CATEGORIES: Willys Trucks • TAGS: , This site contains affiliate links for which I may be compensated.

UPDATE: **SOLD** Was on eBay

(12/05/2012) Randy forwarded this eBay listing.  This sure has rusted beautifully!

“1951 Willys Jeep 4X4 Pickup Truck. This is a project that is currently not running and has been setting for the last 30 years. This is a very restorable truck that is a rock crawler waiting to happen. The drive train is complete from engine to rear end. The engine appears not to be original because it is an over head valve, and the engine is locked up and will not turn over, the remainder of the drive train was in working condition when the truck was parked. Although the body is 99% surface rust it is actually very solid and straight. The cab is very nice as is the roof, hood, cowl, grill, rock guard, and doors and these pieces should clean up for paint with very little effort. The fenders are all on the rough side but are repairable. The bed is also very straight but does have through rust in the bed sides and in the floor. The tailgate has minimal rust and will need some work. The glass is all in place except the driver door wing window, the rest of the glass is either frosted or has bubbles from old age and will need to be replaced, but it is all flat glass and should be very economical to replace. The interior is rough, the seat frame and springs are in place but will need to be recovered. All of the guages are in place and the dash appears to be complete. The wheels all turn freely and the tires all hold air, but are 30 years old and dry rotted. All 5 wheels are original to the truck with the factory pin stripe barley still showing. I have tried to decribe this old Jeep the best of my ability, but have probably missed something that you need to know, if so just ask. If you would like to inspect it in person prior to the end of the auction again just ask and arrangements will be made. This Jeep comes with a good Missouri title. The buyer will be responsible for all transpotation costs if required, but I will be willing to assist in loading or pickup on this end if needed. If you are looking for a project or just some good parts you should give this one some serious consideration.”

1946 CJ-2A San Gabriel, Ca $6300

• CATEGORIES: CJ-2A • TAGS: , , This site contains affiliate links for which I may be compensated.

UPDATE:  Still Available

(03/24/2010) This Jeep has an interesting history.  It sounds little used.

“1946 Willys CJ2A. California jeep. Second owner. Originally sold to a Los Angeles family for use on their weekend getaway ranch in Agoura, CA. For twenty years, this jeep ran from their house up the hill to their water well. It was last used in 1963. Sometime thereafter, the transmission and transfer case were stolen, and it sat until I purchased it in 1983. At that time, it had a little over 500 original miles. Stored outside, but thanks to the dry California climate, at the time I bought it, there was no body rot. Since then, the frame-up restoration has included: Sand blast frame and body parts, engine professionally rebuilt by Preco, Inc. through Harvey’s Complete Jeep Shop in Paramount. Radiator dipped and rodded out. Clutch re-lined by Friction Materials Company. Installed NEW transmission and transfer case, added a Warn All-Range Overdrive. New u-joints, AVM hubs, new seals in differential and axles. New master cylinder, new brake lines, brake shoes re-lined by Friction Materials. Original seats recovered by Elmer’s Truck Seats of Los Angeles, new steering wheel, new instrumentation, and new wiring throughout. Fuel tank cleaned and lined. New 24V alternator. New tires, rims, and front bumper tow bar. New windshield glass. Bikini top, and CJ-5 roll bar. Over 10K invested. I have all receipts. The jeep has not been run in the last 8 years, and needs some TLC, namely a new battery and a clutch return spring. Minor rust is starting to form in the lower corners of the windshield, and the “steps” behind the front fenders. I also have three of the original rims fitted with tractor tires, and the original side spare tire mount. Please contact me via email to arrange an inspection. $7300.00. I will consider any reasonable offer.”
