Brackets are out of shape ,a small stress cracks, Frozen Hinges. One Lt Housing rusted out.

This April 1944 article from Popular Mechanics explains how target jeeps work. The photo shows a slat grille MB sacrificed for the greater good.

“Here we have a original WW2 slat grill jeep. DOD 12/12/41. has been in storage for many years. CLEAN FLORIDA TITLE. Is very complete and will need total restoration. HAVE ORIGINAL DATA PLATES.Very low serial number 103907. There jeeps are very hard to find and after restoration demand big money.
Also with this jeep are many spares like two jeep motors, generators,starters,carbs,and a spare body, transfer case and transmission parts. Extra fenders ,hoods and windshield frames. It’s a blend of civilian and military parts.
“I have a Willys mb2a Jeep for sale. It’s a Mb slat grill body on a titled 1947 cj2a frame. The Jeep was a frame off preservation done by the previous owner. The frame was cleaned-painted etc. The body mounting brackets were relocated. All of the brakes were replaced, exhaust, engine rebuilt-painted, all new oil lines,hoses,water pump, fuel pump, filters, lines, radiator boiled out etc. It has brand new wiring and has been converted over to 12volt(maintaining 6v starter). All the lights including-headlights,gauge lights, tail lights and blackout lights work. Almost everything has been addressed. The body is a slat grill Willys script body (Bensinger) and has some original parts as well. I’m installing the tiger eye reflectors on the back and removing the stars. It has brand new Beachwood canvas seats and headlight covers. Runs and drives very well! Clean and clear title (1947 willys) model 2a. I have Reciept for engine rebuild and body(5,000) .

(06/21/2016) It’s a mix of CJ/MB.
“For sale or trade willys jeep. This jeep has a brand new 1942 style body with a 1947 CJ2A chassis and running gears. Completely restored too many parts to name. The motor had $1000.00 of machine work. Transmission re-built, transfer case rebuilt. New tires new gas tank. New wiring. New shocks. New universal joints. New exhaust system. New carbuerator, all new brakes just to name a few items. Bill of sale only.
UPDATE: **SOLD** Was $15,500.
Seller lists this as both a 1941 and 1942. The serial number suggests it is a 1942.
“Rare “Slat Grill” early version Willys. Runs great. Serial No. 113037…13037th one made out of over 600,000 jeeps in WW II. Delivered January 19th, 1942. Older restoration that could be easily re-done if so desired. Equipped with SC-659 radio transmitter, .30 caliber replica machine gun, canvas top, tools, etc. Many extras including replica M-1 carbine, helmets, parts, manuals and more. Vehicle is licensed and titled. Appointments will be taken in order in which calls are received.”

“1941 Willys MB Jeep – Slat Grille
Asking $8500 or best reasonable offer.
This was the 1st year Jeeps were ever made. Has the one year only slat grille which is very rare.
Willys made its first 25,808 MBs Jeeps with a welded flat iron “slat” radiator grille which were produced from November 18, 1941 to March 6, 1942.
Runs & drives great! Solid Body no rust. Tires like new.
This Jeep has a Buick V6 Engine.
The Buick V6 engine tooling was sold to Kaiser-Jeep in the early 60’s and they were introduced as the “Dauntless V6″ into the Jeep CJ5, CJ6 & C101 for the 1966 model year. The 225 Buick V6 was offered as an option over 4 cylinder engines in 1966-1971 CJ5 and CJ6 Jeeps.
Great for a usable driver or is a great starter vehicle for a complete restoration!!
Has a clear AZ title.”
