(04/30/2014) Listed as a 1941 (none made in ’41), it is more like a late ’42 or later given the lack of script.

David found this article on the history of the jeep in an issue of the September 1978 issue of Car and Parts Magazine. It a rare photo of the four-wheel-steer Bantam BRC-40 that was once owned by Checker (Bill Spears has lots to share about the Checker/Bantam). It very well could be the one in the post below.
I happened across these Bantam/Checker BRC-40 photos on Flickr. Note the ‘Checker’ gauge in the dash.

UPDATE: **SOLD** Was auction.
This June 1st auction includes a nice looking 1977 CJ-5 and 1954 Willys Jeep (unsure of model). Pics of the CJ-5 are included.
1977 CJ-5: “304 original engine, 8 cylinders, manual transmission, 5 speed. 210 Miles. Dual tubular frame, custom roll cage, custom gas tank, fiberglass body, tilt front end, electronic engine, 4 barrel carb, 21/2 body lift w/ 2″ spring lift. Custom graphics. Silver exterior, black interior.”
1954 Model?: “Early H-2 Frame w/new Willys Overland body, 4 cylinder, 3 speed manual transmission, 2-speed transfer case, beautiful red show quality paint with black interior. Restored better than showroom quality with approximately 1300 daily driven miles. Turn-key ready to go. SHOW STOPPER, NO DISAPPOINTMENTS!”
Looks like a good jeep.
“This jeep has the original go devil 4 cylinder and factory drive train. It’s tag is up to date and It has a clean title. I use it to drive to work on really nice days ( 10 mile round trip) and take the family for rides around the ranch. Four wheel drive works wonderfully and transfer case shifts effortlessly. It is a partial restore that I don’t have the time to finish. Plus have a new baby on the way and need to consolidate my hobbies. If you have any questions, please feel free to call or text.”
