Importantly, the allure of buying a project jeep can be romantic. The reality of restoring a jeep can be quite different, expensive and overwhelming without the right tools and resources. “Motor was built by lead mechanic for mario Andretti, made 850 on alcohol, Oliver billet main caps 4 bolt main, solid roller cam with dart stud girdle, dart intake with 1050 quick fuel, Currie 9 inch rear end with fully upgraded internals,brand new fox 2.5 in rear with hydrolic bumps front and back, brand new fox shocks in the front and rebuilt 4 link. I had the trans and converter rebuilt by Mike’s transmissions cost almost 5k, rugged radio system with two headsets, prp seats and harnesses, bead locks front and rear. Motor is a 496 13.5:1 compression”

Seems like this ex-racer could be modified into a racer again.
“Jeep willys body on a shortened blazer frame. Healthy SBC 350, world 2.08 iron heads around 450hp. Th350 and dana 20. 10 bolt front open 12 bolt rear locked. Full cage tied to frame, pb,ps, aluminum radiator. Very reliable and can wheel all day and not overheat. Very fun in sand and mud. Runs great. This jeep is an ex barrel racer.”

This Drag Jeep was featured on Road and Track. Labeled a 1957 DJ-2A, the year, the serial number (56337 11539), and the body style mark this as a 1956 DJ-3A.

This jeep was raced in the Great Lakes sanction. Sand Drags and obstacle course in the 80s, and 90s known as a shuffler..”
