Larry spotted this FC-170. He writes, “We are vacationing in Sedona. There are newer jeeps and jeep tours all over the place so we took one. As we were coming over the hill, there she was, an Fc170 tow truck. It was totally redone and beautiful. The kid in the shop had no idea what it was (some kinda jeep thing). It wasn’t for sale but it was great to see”.

Those familiar with this wrecker recognize it as Wayne Trent’s former FC. You can see some video of it here.

Looks like a slat grille behind the GP.

This is an original press photo. Under the supervision of the U.S. Public Roads Administration fourteen hundred men are at work constructing a trans-ishmanian highway which is scheduled for completion (withal weather paving) by the end of March 1942, if the work is not hampered by rain during the present “dry season”. Photo shows part of the “Jeep” parade over a section of road which has not a yet been laid with concrete. The road is entirely within the Republic of Panama. Photo measures 9 x 7.25 inches. Photo is dated 02-06-1942″

UPDATE: Still Available. Has buy-now price of $5495. Pics are from a Craigslist ad. The new eBay ad does not show passenger side photos, so I can’t tell if the tub is still attached.

(06/29/2016) I wonder if this has the Pontiac 195 in it. Not an easy engine to find. Has a fiberglass body.

This beautiful old Jeep was purchased new in 1962 for my mother for her weekly “Jeep rides”. However, shortly thereafter my parents purchased a summer house on the lake and the Jeep was parked in the garage most of the time while the water was enjoyed. When I inherited it in 2005, I had it compleely gone through mechanically. There were a couple of bubbles, so it was professionally repainted in the original color. It sat in the garage once again until I had it inspected in 2008. I hoped that I finally had the time to drive and enjoy my beloved Jeep. However, to my dismay I discovered that my newly diagnosed rheumatoid artritis prevented me from safely driving it. So I parked it in the garage once again until I finally realized that it is time to sell my Jeep to someone who can truly enjoy it. Continue reading →
