It runs. It looks to be a CJ-3A chassis with an M-38A1 body.
“This is a 1962 Willy’s Jeep 4×4 with all original 4 cylinder/3 speed running gear. Has new upholstery, new tires, new mag wheels, all new wiring under dash.”

“1949 Willy’s CJ-2a. Last of the split window model, only about 700 produced that year.
1.8L Ford Pinto engine (70’s vintage). Original running gear otherwise. Full roll cage, widened front fenders, steering box in front of axle, fiberglass seats, 12V, custom aluminum wheels, custom built replacement fuel tank, bikini top, half doors, full top w/ doors, cheap stereo. Clear title in my name.
This was my daily driver/work truck for nearly 6 years and then 14 years ago I parked it in my garage where it remained until last month. It ran when I parked it, but just barely (was a serious oil burner). I’ve made no attempt to start it. If you’re the lucky new owner you’ll have to pick it up with a trailer.
There’s some rust, particularly on the tailgate and some around the window, but the floor pans and rear corners are solid. The hood is slightly caved with rust on the hinge. It does not have the parking brake.”
UPDATE: **SOLD** Was $3495
(08/17/2015) It’s worth a look.
“This is an incredibly solid, original 1960 Willys Wagon 2 door Maverick Edition. It has been extremely well taken care of over the years and drives amazing given its original status. The “Super Hurricane” flathead straight-six engine starts and runs like a top. The whole drive train is solid, it has a manual 3 speed transmission with an overdrive also referred to as a “brownie” gear. 4 wheel drive shifts and works good too. Has no problem starting or getting around, even during winter. Continue reading

“1943 jeep willies 327 engine .New clutch.4×4 works great.”
UPDATE: Still Available. Was $1600.
(07/05/2015) This is an ex-agricultural department, agriculture research service jeep. Too bad the paint isn’t in better condition.
“For Sale 1949 Willys CJ3A jeep. Engine turns freely by hand, not frozen. located in Belgrade. This jeep has a PTO on the transfer case. You can see the PTO lever in the photo of the interior between the seats. This is a relatively rare option on these old jeeps. They could run post hole augers saw mills, generators etc. This option makes sense since this jeep was a Dept. Of Agriculture vehicle as indicated by the lettering. As is $1,600. Looking for the title. This could be restored or used for parts. Do not request response by email.”
UPDATE: **SOLD** Was $3250.
(07/28/2015) This has an interesting rear. For some reason it has the PTO bar in back?
“My dad’s 53 Willy 4X4 , straight six “Super Hurricane” 4 speed manual, hi lo transfercase. It does run but needs brake work and a few odds and ends tiddy-ed up. It has a winch mount in front and in the bed of the truck; along with a gin pole setup. We rebuilt this many years ago from the radiator to the tailpipe and used to take it to Colorado to use on trails or general running around while camping. It has a few modifications for the trails but for the most part it is stock.
Make me an offer”
Anyone know anything about these books? I’ve never run across one.
