Importantly, the allure of buying a project jeep can be romantic. The reality of restoring a jeep can be quite different, expensive and overwhelming without the right tools and resources. Original Post March 2017: Listed as a 1940s promotional film, the inclusion of CJ-5s and the exclusion of DJs and FCs suggests to me it was created in 1955. There’s an extended look at a cargo personnel carrier near the end of the video There are also a variety of specialized equipment and hardtops shown.
Sam spotted this photo with an 1946-1947 CJ-2A (and other photos) at the Digital North Carolina archives. According to the description, the photo shows “Van and George Watson hauling seed corn to dryer plat at Watson Seed Farms INC. with World War II Surplus Willy’s Jeep. Watson Seed Farms had 2 jeeps.”

This article and photo was published in the September 25th, 1943, issue of the Calgary Herald.
UPDATE: **SOLD** Was $8000.
Has an unusual roll bar set up. Appears worth a look.
“1946 Willys CJ2a. It may not look pretty but it runs well. It has new tires, wiring, gauges, clutch and throw out bearing, brakes and brake lines and hoses. The steering box has been rebuilt, and a new battery, plugs wires, points and dist. cap. Radiator has been cleaned and new fluid. New brake lights and working turn signals. It has a refurbished windshield wiper motor, and new windshield glass along with many other new parts too numerous to list. The engine is a L -134 flathead. It is currently tagged and insured with a clean N.C. title”
Not a bad price given the amount of work that’s been done. Still, it’s only a 2WD vehicle. It does have a good looking Kelly hardtop.

For a 75-year-old trailer, this one is in pretty excellent shape. This is either a 1946 or 1947 Bantam T3-C 1/4 ton trailer. I’ve owned it for a couple of years now, with the intention to turn it into a overland like trailer.
I have an extra set of rims with military style tires, but all these tires need to be replaced, the rubber is pretty old on these. All the rims are in inner tube style rim as well. The bolt pattern is 5×5.5″ with a hub opening of a hair over 4.75.”
