Importantly, the allure of buying a project jeep can be romantic. The reality of restoring a jeep can be quite different, expensive and overwhelming without the right tools and resources. “i have a complete, but in quite rough shape 1946-1949 Willys CJ2A. exact year unknown because vin plate is missing. willys is complete with the original go devil flathead four cylinder. tub is quite rusty, and frame has some bad spots, but ive seen a lot worse ones restored. has many great little parts, and a very nice stock plow unit. its nearly worth what im asking in scrap value, but cant scrap a little piece of american history. it does not run, and has not for about 5-7 years. not sure if motor is set up. if it is, theyre not hard to disassemble. call, text, or email questions. its on my trailer now and can be delivered. if this posting is still up, its still for sale.”

Doors have rollup windows.

Both jeeps include rare Blue Star Aluminum Tops. One jeep runs and one doesn’t. I thought these jeeps were for sale on eBay at one point.

“1947 split window willys jeep with hardtop and doors, motor was overhauled 3k miles ago, runs excellent, 4×4 works, brakes are a little weak but they work, overall excellent condition for its age.”
Paul forwarded these two photos of hardtops. Anyone know who manufactured these tops?
The first one is the same model of hardtop Paul’s dad had on his jeep. Paul notes, “This is an old metal hardtop which was used on the WW2 Jeeps. The windows in the doors are moved up and down by straps on the inside of the doors.”
This is another version of the same top. However, the doors on this top have been modified so the vertically sliding windows were replaced by fixed pieces of clear plexiglass. Rather a boxy design even compared to a Jeep.

The trunk is an interesting feature.
“There is nothing more rugged and endearing than a Willys Jeep. . .especially one from the early 1950s with some patina. This 1953 Willys CJ3B is almost completely original and has acquired some battle scars over the years. Nothing serious. . .just enough to add some character. If you’re into off-roading or just want a beast to drive around, this Willys with a factory Hardtop, just may be the ticket for you. I know I have had a blast with it over the past 18 years cruising around my property high in the Colorado Rockies. This CJ3B is listed with a starting bid of $1,000 and a reserve well below what it is worth.
