Depending on the work needed, this looks like it’s not a bad price.
“50 Jeep CJ3a; great condition for year; kelley hard top in great shape; l-head 4 cyl
runs/ drives but needs work; thanks for looking, ”
UPDATE: **SOLD** Was on eBay.
I don’t see too many DJ-3As that still have their tops. Someone converted this to 4wd.
“Unique Willys Jeep with a fiberglass roof and steel doors and sides. This jeep is in good shape for the age. Willys flathead 4 cylinder runs fine, transmission and 4 wheel drive work fine. Cooper military type lug tires. Has new front springs, new brake shoes on all 4 wheels.Fun jeep to drive. This jeep needs a new master cylinder or rebuild. Gas tank has seap leak if filled full. Has some rust in the bottom of the doors. Floor pan appears pretty solid. As you can see in the pictures there are some surface rust spots on the body. Drivers door window is cracked. Other glass is good. Seats from a new jeep are installed. The jeep comes with the original split bench front seat, original locking hubs, has Warne hubs installed, extra transmission and transfer case parts. It has a tow bar installed with a 2″ hitch so you can tow it home.”
This has got a great old top.
“Flat head 4 cylinder engine. Winch runs off transfer case from transmission.”
UPDATE: **SOLD** Was $1500.
On a trip to Bonner’s Ferry, Idaho, Dan discovered this unusual project. Underneath all the modifications is a 1943 GPW. What’s amazing to me is that, all things considered, it doesn’t look all that bad. Someone certainly cobbled together a variety of vehicles, along with a healthy supply of diamond plating to keep this vehicle on the road. No doubt it was better than sporting a soft top in cold weather.
UPDATE: A reader purchased this and reports about the purchase in the comments.
” 1948 Willys Jeep. Runs Great – looks great – Selling because I need to make room in our garage and I’m not using it. The only thing that needs some attention is to track
down what’s draining the battery and passenger side windsheild wiper.”
UPDATE: **SOLD** Was $10,000. It has a Muller Top.
UPDATE: More pics. Some interesting pics of the custom soft top. Price dropped to $10,000. This also comes with the electric overdrive, which demonstrates you can sneak one of these behind a transfercase in a flattie.
(10/06/2009) It looks like there’s been some well done customizations. I’d like to see more pics to see more.

“Hi i have a 1946 Jeep Willys here. Has been garaged since 87 and it pretty good condition. All origional with all parts still there. It did run when it was parked but has sat for 23 years so no guarentees on it running but would be a nice project. Lost the keys for the ignition so it will have to be replaced. If you have any other questions feel free to contact me at 720 937 5668, 303 945 0229 or jmet2490@gmail.com Thanks for looking! Email me for pictures”
UPDATE: **SOLD** Was $1200.
(11/26/2009) The seller would like to trade this jeep as part of a trade for a Cargo Trailer. This is a no tailgate DJ-3A. This appears to be a great price.
“JEEP: 1956 WILLY’S DJ3-A. Needs the bodywork finished and painted. Body is in good shape. Not wrecked or rusted out. Floorpan is great. Engine is a 4-cyl 1971 Ford, but runs like a top! Short exhaust w/cherry bomb. Roll bar and hardtop included. Aluminum mag wheels. Needs tires. Windshield is cracked, but would be easy to replace. Clear title in my name. Very unusual model. Same body style as Willy’s MB/Ford GPW. Would trade for approx $1200 +/- toward a trailer.”
