This section used to be split into jeeps, parts and other categories, but recent changes to eBay will require this information to be recoded.

Importantly, the allure of buying a project jeep can be romantic. The reality of restoring a jeep can be quite different, expensive and overwhelming without the right tools and resources. Since it has the CJ-2A windshield, I wonder if it really is a 3A.

“Veh. Has had extensive work, brakes, Pinto engine, converted to12V, batt., lights, turn signals, new gas tank, new steering wheel, electric windshield wipers. Many new parts not installed yet, JC Whitney.”

This has an unusual striping motif. The last tags were in 1981, so I suspect the miles on the engine are pretty low.
“48 flat fender willys w/ roll bar and a 283 small block, new rear seal, new upholstered black leather seats. has canvas top and doors but is in fair condtion. drop down winshield, new battery, and all the lights work too…. tires are good but could use new ones in the future, its not a daily driver but it will climb a tree….. the last tags r from 1981, have clear title….it runs killer and has lots of power.”

(09/30/2009) Here’s a nice looking CJ-3A. It’s got an unusual cage.
“This is a 1949 Willys CJ3A with a rebuilt F-Head motor (not a flat head) out of a 1956 CJ3B. T90 3 speed and a Dana 18 Transfer Case. Dana 27 Front End and a Dana 44 Rear (welded for a locker) 5.38 gears. Custom 6 point Roll Cage out of 1.5″ DOM tubing. New Best Top Soft Top and Doors plus a Bikini Top …. Turn key and ready for a weekend in the woods!! The only thing that could be done is a new carborator because the 60 year old one leaks a little. Wanted to put the $100 upgrade solex carborator in it but just don’t have the time. Also, there is some rust in the bottom of the tub but again, not bad for the year.”

Lots of spaghetti in the engine compartment, but it runs and looks solid.
“I have a 1948 flat fender Jeep Willys for sale. It is in good shape all around, runs and drives great. The drive train is stock with the flat head four cylinder and stock transmission and axles. Asking $2,200.00”
This is a Willys Jeep that was assembled from parts and pieces in the early 1960’s by Joe Ferrero and used as a Shriner’s parade vehicle through the early 1990’s. It appears to be a DJ-3A.
They acquired the Willys needing repair. With a minor ressurection – this vehicle is functioning as a parade vehicle. Features include all the bells and whistles (literally), a squirting telephone, bottle openers, and a keg that is accessible through the side of the vehicle.

(10/03/2010) Unusual ‘roll bars’, unusual bumper and unusual paint job ….
“1948 Willy’s jeep, 4 cylinder, runs good, new army style tires installed. Rear end was rebuilt and ran one season at deer lease. Body is in great shape, has heavy gauge steel bumper with tow tong. Needs a little help on seats and brakes but will make a great hunting vehicle or farm truck. Currently painted in camo colors..”

(11/09/09) “The original high hood Willys Overland “Jeep” universal in excellent original condition. This is not one of those old jeeps that has been ruined by installing a v-8. these were not made to go fast, they were made to go anywhere! Original F-134 4 cyl. engine with oil bath air cleaner. Rebuilt running gear inc. complete engine/transfer case rebuild, new clutch & brakes, upgraded to 12 v alternator. New fuel pump, regulator, solenoid and re-built original starter. Extras include Warn PTO winch, roll bar, soft top & rear bench seat. Clean in and out, no rust, never wrecked. Must see to appreciate. I’ve owned it for over 30 years and got it from my Grandfather so I can tell you it’s entire history.”
