(05/12/2017) Body looks great. Needs an engine and some other pieces. If this doesn’t come with the gas inlet, there’s one for sale on eBay. It’s a good price, too.  Seller also had a 1963 DJ chassis for sale. Interesting that it has a 0-10 speedo, which, if original to the jeep, would more likely make it an early 1956 model.

Listed as a 1950, I’d guess, based on that 0-9 speedometer, this is a 1956 or early ’57 DJ-3A.

“1957 jeep Willy civilian model, 2wd, original 4 cylinder 3 speed transmission on the steering column. Has been converted to hydrolic brakes runs great. I just use it to take friends around our property so it’s registered non op. Always inside and has windshield and snap on top.”

“This is not a ridiculous or heavy project otherwise the word “project” is relative.
If I can get what I am in it so far, I’ll let it go. I did not lose interest in it. In my case, the problem is space otherwise I do not have another project needing this space but the wife wants to be able to park inside. We have a 3 door garage and so much STUFF in it. Happy wife/Happy life.
I am cleaning my garage and that’s why I could not approach it to take better pictures but I am just testing the waters right now and that could be good for a potential buyer to be the first to see it LIVE and hopefully ending up buying it because even though these kind of Jeep projects are overall in demand but with the bad pictures I provided, for now, I bet you it wouldn’t be appealing to many until I put some more and better pictures next week.
I bought this a couple of years ago from the widow of the 68 y/o owner who suddenly died of a heart attack. he was fixing it putting new drums and brakes which are still in the rear cargo area. The Jeep has 52,000 miles on the body but he put an old Chevy motor from the late 50’s in it which could be from a Corvette of those years. The seats are all intact with one little tear but since they are old, I think they should be redone. It has some surface rust and little rusted through only on the driver side floor panel.”

“I am selling my 1962 Jeep DJ3A project. It was originally a hard top mail jeep that was long ago converted to a normal CJ3A, with patches covering the original cutouts in the tub and an M38 windshield.

The frame is the original DJ frame (verified by stamping numbers) that has been fully boxed. It has recently been sanded, rust treated and coated. It has a square tube front bumper.

The Jeep was converted to 4×4 in the 70s, run by a couple owners, and then taken apart by the previous owner in 1981. The tub and all sheet metal was stored inside gathering dust until 2016 when I purchased it after he passed away. As a result of that, the tub is almost completely rust free, save for two small spots toward the back of the wheel wells. The original running gear (save for rear axle) is gone.
