Importantly, the allure of buying a project jeep can be romantic. The reality of restoring a jeep can be quite different, expensive and overwhelming without the right tools and resources. (11/04/2019) To me, this looks like a replacement body rather than a body that’s been restored.
“1953 Jeep CJ3B that has had all body work done and is ready for paint and finishing restoration. Body was taken off of frame and recently put back on after body work complete. Will run but needs a fuel pump and fuel line.”
This is a project with a rear PTO and gearbox.

“Barn find from Red River, NM. Has PTO. Extension for back. Soft doors, tailgate, extra seats. Came from the Prunty estate in Red River, NM. Locals said it ran when stored. Has key, no title.”

(11/26/2019) It runs, but will need work.
“Pretty neat old CJ2a. 1947 was the first big year of mass production of the civilian jeep, and not a lot of the 45 and 46 CJ models exist anymore.
L-Head 4 cylinder runs like a sewing machine, good oil pressure and pretty quiet. New fuel pump and the carb was just cleaned and rebuilt. Exhaust is all there and holding together pretty well. Water pump gasket leaks a bit, and somewhere along the line the oil filter was removed.
The body/tub are in serviceable condition; the worst area is pictured on the dr side footwell. Floor is actually pretty solid (for its 72 years). The frame has been welded together and repaired many, many times during its life. And it still needs more work, I wouldn’t call it real road worthy right now.

On Thursday Dec 5th I fly to Richmond, Virginia. I’ll be there (Chester area) through Saturday the 14th doing some work on my cousin’s house. If anyone isn’t too far from there, I may have time to drop by and say hello. Bob’s Sales & Service of Clare, Michigan, ran several different jeep ads between 1946 and 1948.
This ad was for a 1″-scale model jeep that measured 11″ when built. West-Craft also offered 1/2″-scale model jeeps for sale, too. I’ve got a few unbuilt 1940s models, but no West-Craft ones.
