Importantly, the allure of buying a project jeep can be romantic. The reality of restoring a jeep can be quite different, expensive and overwhelming without the right tools and resources. This Acme Newspicture photo shows the first jeep and trailer to enter Slovenia. A soldier demonstrates the field technique for lifting a trailer with a railroad tie so his buddy can change a flat tire. I do not have an exact date this was published, but it can be seen at the fulton history site.

“This is a extremely rare American Motors Jeep dealership parts book BINDER.
It is what sat at the corner of AMC dealerships parts counters. This one is
exceptional. You will NOT see another for sale. roughly 12 pounds & over
2000 pages. Covers mostly 1962 thru 1973 Jeep. No AMX, Matador, Javelin,
JUST JEEPS. Issue date 1972. Take a look at many of the factory
illustrations. All Group Numbers. All Part Numbers. All Series! Alphabetical
index. From Group 1 Engines to Group 31 Pick Up boxes & Stake body it is all
here. I do not specialize in Jeep Series (AMX & Javelin 1968-74 for 30
years) this was part of a AMC Dealership buyout. I had other later model
ones, those sold for $250-$400 a book and it is my understanding they will
be put on CD/DVD. I would expect buyer to put this book on CD/DVD (Adobe
format) also and it will pay for itself 100X over such as my 1967-72 AMC
CD/DVD item 251345562373 has, as have sold over 500 of them. You WILL be the
ONLY person with this rare book & uber rare factory binder to boot. I have
had only a handful of AMC dealership binders in stock from dealer buyouts
in 30 years in business, but NEVER had a Jeep 1962 thru 1973 type like this.
It will be sent to high bidder with mandatory signature confirmation in US.

Colin shared a couple photos of his rare Hickey Aluminum Heads. The February 1955 Car Craft had an article about Vic Hickey’s supercharged flathead.

DuraLube’s been added to crankcase.
Head was professionally serviced (shaved-valves ground-new valve seats)
New head gasket.

Looks solid on the outside, but there’s a lot of diamond plating on the floor.
“For Sale 1951 Jeep Willys 4×4 Pick-up, 2.2 engine with 37,400 original miles. Runs and looks great, with No Rust. Everything in tact with nothing missing on this truck. Has original everything! The only thing not original is the wheels and tires. Gauges and ALL lights work perfect , even the dome light and horn work! Truck has been converted over to a 12V system, This pick up only needs three things, a paint job, new upholstery and a new home. Take it home for $9,500 OBO”

“1947 Willys CJ2A Jeep motor runs excellent and has strong transmissions. Bought this for a hunting vehicle and now need the room in my garage. It has had a lot of work done to it since we have owned it. All 4 brakes have been rebuilt and are strong. New high performance radiator. Water pump was rebuilt 2 years ago. Very fun ride out in the woods but is not road worthy.”

“This jeep has had an engine overhaul,transmission and transfer case rebuilt.Has new brake master as well as new shoes.New king pin bearings,knuckle seals,outer tie rod ends,front bearings repacked,new rear axle seals,new clutch,carb rebuilt,new alternator,new cooling hoses,new battery,new tires including spare,new old stock top will fold down completely or can roll up side or back windows and remove doors,has a heater and defroster,new windshield wipers,new seats,all gauges work,wheel cylinders rebuilt,has been painted recently.Much more that I am forgetting.Jeep runs very well and is all original except the alternator and seats.I have the correct seats,they need reupholstered.Rust was very minimal,very unusual for an old jeep.This is not a perfect restoration,just a really nice looking jeep that gets lots of attention.Looking for a Willys wagon, so this one will go.”

“Have a 1947 Willys with a Oldsmobile V6 in it. This had been sitting for three years and fired right up. I haven’t started to clean this up yet and will be selling for big bucks after clean up. Very nice shape for a 65 year old car. I was just sold some old jeeps had a Buick v6 in them. I’m not sure about this one.”
