Importantly, the allure of buying a project jeep can be romantic. The reality of restoring a jeep can be quite different, expensive and overwhelming without the right tools and resources. I think I found this photo on Facebook last month. To me, this looks to be a hardtop contract from Willys-Overland with tops supplied by Worman (based on my discussion in this Worman-Related post). UPDATE: **SOLD** Was $3500.
This top is similar to a Porter & Reed top, but has some different assembly strategies. It might be home made.
“1947 Willy’s CJ-2A project Jeep. Ran when I bought it a few years ago but had a bad head gasket leak. I have replaced the head gasket, intake and exhaust gaskets, cleaned the valves and replaced the valve gasket, plus I have new gaskets for everything else. New plugs, belts, welded a hole in the gas tank, new water pump, new thermostat and new oil filter. I have also installed a tow bar. Still needs new battery and the tires are worn. Recently moved and just have time or a good place to wrench on it plus my son lost interest in working on it with me so figured it’s time for a new home. It needs the carb re-installed, fluids, battery and should be ready to run. Has some electrical issues but the lights work. Great project keep for someone to finish.”

The hardtop alone is worth the price.

“Nearly all original. Running gear and body in good condition, no rust or rot. Koenig hard top, custom paint,
diamond plate corners. This Jeep has been used as a hunting rig for the last 57 years? at our cabin in Eastern Oregon. Stored inside and never abused. Has had regular maintenance, oil and coolant changes, tune ups, etc.
This is a good solid little Jeep that we just don’t use any more. License is current and we have title.”
