About eWillys
Welcome to eWillys.com, a website for vintage jeep enthusiasts. I update this website nearly every day with jeep deals, jeep history, interesting reader projects, jeep related info, and more.
These quick searches can help you find things on eBay. People list in the wrong categories all the time, so don't be surprised to see brochures in the parts area for example. This section used to be split into jeeps, parts and other categories, but recent changes to eBay will require this information to be recoded.
The links to posts below show jeeps grouped by models, condition, and other ways. Some of these jeeps are for sale and others have been sold. If you are unsure whether a vehicle is still for sale or not, email me at d [at] ewillys.com for more info.
Importantly, the allure of buying a project jeep can be romantic. The reality of restoring a jeep can be quite different, expensive and overwhelming without the right tools and resources. So, tread carefully when purchasing a "project". If you have any concerns about buying a vintage jeep, or run across a scam, feel free to contact me for help, comments or concerns .
(03/03/2020) This might be a DJ-3A convertible, given the column shift. The serial number indicates it is a 1962 DJ-3A (listed as a 1949). It includes a 4.3gm engine.
(06/30/2019) This may have been a DJ-3A. Now has lots of mods.
“I will be in Selma (where the jeep is located) from the 5th of July- 14th of July if you want to look at it I would like to sell it while I’m in town. I have moved to Las Vegas and with a 3 year old the jeep just isn’t practical. The jeep is In Selma ca Its registered as a 56 “Willy” so there is none of that bs smog stuff to deal with. But it’s actually a 40 something Willy’s chassis with an aftermarket tub. It has a small block Chevy 350 with a Muncie. Coil over Fox shocks in the front with 14” of travel and I think 10” Bilstien shocks on the rear. Pm any questions you want to Ask Open to trades that may be more family friendly”
Somehow, I never posted these Instructions for installing DJ-3A seats that Terry sent me. So, here they are in a post of there own. These are the official instructions dated June 15, 1956, for the front passenger seat installation on a DJ-3A using Field Kit Attaching Parts No. 696529:
I would not advise a buyer to buy this thinking he or she can make “big money” on it, which is what the seller states. This is listed as a 1950 and appears to be a DJ-3A Body (1956 or 1957 based on the speedo) that’s likely on a CJ-3A chassis.
“1950 DJ MILITARY KOREAN 4X4 CHASIS. FLAT FENDER WILLYS COMES WITH AND EXTRA FRONT DIFFERENTIAL. 235 V6 ENGINE WITH BELL HOUSING ADAPTER TO FIT ORIGINAL TRANNY. DOES NOT RUN BUT THIS IS THE PROJECT TO MAKE SOME BIG MONEY”
(06/25/2019) This seems to me to be a later model DJ-3A (has the passenger side vent), but not a Surrey. Overall, it does seem to be in good shape.
“Red, White & Blue All American Willy’s Jeep
Titled as a 1952 M38 but outfitted as one of the Galas, two-wheel drive, all new undercarriage, including rear differential, 3-speed manual transmission with overdrive. All new clutch, front axle, shocks, springs, tires and wheels. Original engine, runs great. New radiator, hoses, etc. Newer upholstery on seats.
$17,000 invested and appraised between $15,000 and $25,000
Fun! Very unique, great for parades/special events or just delighting the neighborhood.
$10,000 and can be delivered anywhere for the cost of travel“
“Very light surface rust, no running gear. 2 wheel drive with wide whitewalls. I just don’t have the time and have many other Willys that I am working on. Tires have new tubes, frame and body are in excellent condition. Cash only, will delete when sold. Not positive what year it is”
This might have a DJ-3A Convertible body on a CJ chassis. While the dash is missing the large speedo, a gauge plate has been installed over that area of the dash. There’s no fuel inlet on the side, but Steve spotted the one in the rear (I missed it). It’s got the correct style of VIN tag to be a DJ-3A.
“Jeep tub has motor tranny axles wheels as in pic
have to be honest not sure if cj1-cj3 which?”
UPDATE: This is back up for sale. Note that this is a column shift. As Carl noted, this is the correct orientation for the image, because if reversed the “WILLYS” would be backwards.
“This is an original press photo. Autos-Willy’s. Willys Jeep Dispatcher, above, designed for light delivery work particularly in congested traffic areas, is now being introduced by Willy’s Motors, Incorporated. Highly maneuverable and economical to operate, the Dispatcher is offered in a hardtop model (illustrated) a convertible canvas soft-top, and a basic open model. All models are powered by the Jeep four-cylinder 60 horsepower engine.Photo measures 10 x 8.25inches. Photo is dated 6-3-1956.”
