Over at Plastic Warriors, Paul has put together a site dedicated to pictures and info about 1/76 and 1/72 plastic soldiers, kits and wargaming. He has spent considerable time photographing, discussing and comparing various model types and clearly has a passion and expertise for the subject.  One item that caught my eye was his link to the five worst army men of all time.

In this archive link, you can see his examination of minature Jeeps.  He also had these matchbox covers, which were I thought were interesting.

This has been available for a few weeks, but I somehow missed it.

“1962 Willys Jeep DJ-3A. This is a Dispatcher Jeep which was the same as the CJ-3A except for being two-wheel drive. Currently registered and operating. Has a Willys flathead four cylinder engine and three speed transmission. This is a good restoration project, or an excellent candidate for a Buick or Chevy V-6. Comes with a later model Dana postal Jeep rear axle (new 4.56:1 gears / center pumpkin), and postal Jeep front axle if you want to use with modern wheels and brakes. Clear Nevada title. I’ve seen worse for more money.  This includes a PTO winch.  Looks like a good buy from the image.

UPDATE: **SOLD** Was $2800.

This includes an overdrive. This appears to have a variety of updates, including swing pedals and tilt steering wheel.  It might make a pretty good project.

It might make a good project.

“I am selling my ’63 CJ 3B because I was hoping to have it for a restoration project, but as you all know sometimes life gets in the way. I’ve owned it for 7 years and it has just sat, the engine has run in the past five years or so. It’s all factory. In the pictures the doors are off of it they way they were when I bought it and have been kept in my garage. The frame is solid, and the worst part of the body is the hood. It still retains the original firewall VIN plate and I have a clean, clear Maryland Title. This is a really great starting platform. I wish I could keep it. Looking for $2000. I am in Silver Spring, MD just outside of Washington, DC.”

This engine sounds interesting, though it’s seized with rust. I’d sure like to tear it apart and check it out.
