Importantly, the allure of buying a project jeep can be romantic. The reality of restoring a jeep can be quite different, expensive and overwhelming without the right tools and resources. This tub was built by hand.
“I have a 1946 Willys Jeep. I runs and drives great. It is definitely a project vehicle. I was gonna build a trail rig , and basically just use the body and place it on all modern day drive train a top a YJ frame. I have too many projects and I need to get rid of some of them. The tub was hand built by a metal fab shop, but the hood and front fenders, windshield frame and dash are all original. Who ever built the tub did a really good job. It would be fine for a trail rig, its just not original enough to restore to a ” Veterans Day Parade” type jeep. I put a new carb. and fuel pump on the original drive train and it runs great. I drive it around my yard, but it needs brakes. call me if U have any questions, I’d be happy to talk about the jeep.”

This looks like a great price. This has a rear PTO and is set up for a plow on the front.
“nice collectable Jeep in good shape….needs little to complete re-store…was built during the transition from Willy’s to Kaiser and has some rare features ( Hydrailic winch/ lift system for Myers snow plow or dozer blade, and a Ford pto system on rear) both factory and operational with shifting levers in floor. Jeep enthusist will know alot more from vin# etc. but these are rare in this condition. Items still needed and currently being worked on……seats, fender flares, rear leaf springs, windshield glass Has fresh paint job, good wheels and tires, motor, tanfer case, transmission, rear end all in good shape……. don’t really have money to finish and need the cash…. has the Hurricane 4 motor.. jeep is all original”

(05/01/2010) A running jeep + an extra chassis and drive train. This looks like a good price.
“1946 Willys with 283 chevy v8 engine, 3 speed transmission, with overdrive transfer case, power steering, 2″ body lift and after market springs. Runs great! Included is an additional complete chassis, with original flathead 4 engine, radiator, transmission, transfer case, front and rear ends, and springs.”

(09/03/09) This looks like it might have the hudson steering modification.
“i have a 1952 w/1953 motor in it for sale, this is the military willys with oversized fuel filler that pulls out, correct instrument panel etc.. yes oversized civilian tires where added at some point and rig set up for hunting. this vehicle is good though should be gone through as it has been sitting a few years now… redid clutch gear and starter and carb… before i parked it .. i will entertain serious offers , it simply needs a new home….”
Diego describes himself as a ‘new willys lover’ who discovered a CJ-2A project on eWillys that he just had to have — a clear sign that he has been overcome with the damned ‘Willys Sickness’.
Despite the severity of his illness, which he has shaken off with bravado, Diego has made substantial progress with a project jeep he spotted on ewillys. As you can see in the first couple of images, at sometime in this jeep’s life an owner felt they wanted to combine the starkness of a jeep with the peacefulness of a natural setting, so it was only logical to turn the cockpit into a park bench. I can’t imagine that made the ride any softer; maybe they had a really padded bottom?
One other unusual change was the additional coil springs between the axles and the frame and all four corners, which I’m sure made the ride all that more stiff! I can’t remember ever seeing that modification.
Anyway, Diego’s turning this back into a real jeep and he has made good progress! Btw, if anyone has any experience with titling Jeeps in Florida, he’d be happy to get some advice as he only has a bill of sale at the moment, though he does have the serial number.
