1960 DJ-3A Pennsylvania **SOLD**

• CATEGORIES: DJ-3A, Jeep Rods, Unusual • TAGS: , , , This site contains affiliate links for which I may be compensated.

UPDATE:  This now lives on the East Coast. I got to examine it up close at the 2013 Bantam Festival. The work is excellent. It was bought for $9000. It has more of a surrey look to it now.

I used the IMCDb.org site to attempt to locate an image of the jeep to the right from a shot in the movies.  You can see a DJ-3A from Blue Hawaii (not a very good shot). Or the same shot enhanced and cropped to the left.  Here’s a link to a shot of the Nutty Professor’s DJ-3A.

This flat fender (the one on the right) falls into the ‘unusual jeep’ category.  Apparently, it’s a movie star!

1947 CJ-2A Boonville, In $2750 & eBay

• CATEGORIES: CJ-2A • TAGS: This site contains affiliate links for which I may be compensated.

UPDATE:  Hog spotted this on eBay.

This has a few rough spots, but not bad for a midwest jeep.

“This is a 1947 Willys CJ2A Jeep. I’ve owned it for about 2 1/2 years and it always lives in my attached garage. When I bought it, the Jeep had been sitting inside a dry, attached garage for the last 25 years. I brought it home, put a new battery in it and poured some gas in the carb and it started right up. Since then I have put new brakes all the way around, rebuilt the wheel cylinders and master cylinder, rebuilt the carburetor, cleaned and sealed the gas tank, and rebuilt much of the front end. We entered it in the 2008 Frog Follies and people just flocked to it. I drove it around town until late last year when the clutch went out. Put a new clutch assembly in it and it’s ready to go again. I liked it because it is about 95 percent original. No one has modified the crap out of it like most of them have been.

It does have some rust present, but it is much, much less than most of its age. Very little rust-thru. I have a clear Indiana title in my name with the original serial number on it. My name is Jerry and you can reach me at 812-204-3300.”

Buttercup — A True Love Story

• CATEGORIES: Builds, Features, Reader Stories This site contains affiliate links for which I may be compensated.

Buttercup has come home again.  Here is the story as told by Buttercup’s current steward.

William writes,  “I would like to introduce you to “BUTTERCUP” a 1946 CJ2A. My father “Skip” Taylor bought her in 1973 for $150.00 and brought her out to our family house on Clarks Island in Plymouth Mass.

Out there he put plywood floors in, added yellow paint(out of a can) and named her Buttercup after a cow that was once on the property. For 20 years she was our tractor and stuff hauler. I learned to drive her when I was 10. Sometime in the 80’s Skip added the wire wheels and had a trailer built.  By 1990 it was decided that she was getting tired and was replaced by a John Deer tractor.

After a while she was sold to a gentleman with the agreement that my father would get “right of first refusal” if she was ever put up for sale. Well, 3 winters ago that man kept his word and sold Buttercup (painted red) back to us with new floors and a rebuilt original motor.

She is now back on the island, going back together once again.  She has new brakes, a tune up, the wire wheels(off a 35 ford) and her bright yellow paint (out of a can). Buttercup is running great and driving the property cleaning up branches and taking the kids out for rides. She is a part of our family and hope to keep her going for another sixty years.

I asked William about the wire wheels and he said his father had the centers of some jeep rims cut out and welded into the 35 ford rims. Not road safe but good for an island.

Here are some pics of Buttercup.  Thanks for sharing William!

1942ish 4WD Model T Ignacio, Co eBay

• CATEGORIES: Other 4x4s, Unusual This site contains affiliate links for which I may be compensated.

Ok, so I admit I thought this was going to be junk.  But, on closer inspection, the suspension is unusual, the engine/tranny/tc all appear to have been neatly rebuilt.  Besides, buy this and “be the only dude w/ a 4×4 model t”.

this auction is for a custom built 1942 willys jeep w/ ford model t body parts. the engine is a 2.o ohv ford engine that is freshly built . i just completed the wiring , except for the headlights and taillights. this project is 95% done. it is lacking glass and paint along w/ lights frnt and back. i believe the items that are lacking are very personal items and should be chosen by someone that plans on keeping it awhile. it needs doors as well. but there are many options to choose from. i would like to see someone that plans on keeping it finish it . that way i dont lose out on my time and effort and the buyer picks it for cheaper. feel free to call or e-mail w/ any questions or concerns.buyer is responsible for shipping  and may be able to meet half way or deliver for a fee . thanks and good luck. this is a great vehicle and deal as wll , dont pass it up. be the only dude w/ a 4×4 model t. only one i know anyways!! (970)563-6053 my name is vince”
