Importantly, the allure of buying a project jeep can be romantic. The reality of restoring a jeep can be quite different, expensive and overwhelming without the right tools and resources. “I have a 1942 jeep willys. It has a 260 ford V8, T18 transfer case, warn overdrive, power steering, 44 rear end and 27 front end with 5:38 gears,truck 4 speed, New maxxis 32″ tires. It is an old school wheeler. It runs and drives, has been through rubicon, fordyce, and berrit. Its not perfect but it is ready to wheel. asking 3000 obo.”

This looks more surreyish than 1945 CJ-2Aish. There have been some unusual mods.

“This runs great. Also moves & stops but not road worthy. This has brand new rear springs that need to be installed. I do not have a reg. for it. This is probably better as a donor or lot truck .The plow blade needs repair or you can replace it. I plowed 2 big driveways all winter with out a problem. Junkers no thank-you. 657-3312”

“YOU ARE BIDDING ON A 1962 WILLYS JEEP FORWARD CONTROL. THE TRUCK WILL RUN AND DRIVE. THE 4 WORKS AS YOU WILL SEE IN THE PICTURES. IT HAS A NEW ELECTRIC FUEL PUMP. AND GOOD BATTERY. THE WOOD BED IS BAD. IT WILL NEED SOME WORK. THE GLASS LOOKS OK AND THERE IS 30 SOME THOUSAND MILES ON IT. IT HAS LOCK OUT HUBS THAT WORK. SEATS ARE OEM THEY WILL NEED RECOVERED. GEAR RESTORATION PROJECT. ALL BLEEDER VALVES WORK ON THE BRAKES. THE TRUCK WAS DROVE TODAY AND THE MAN I GOT IT FOR SAID HE DROVE IT 2 WEEK AGO. THE MOTOR IS A SUPPER HURRICANE 6. Sadly, Keith filed a post-tornado special report today. He noted that while he, his wife Patsy and their son survived the storm as it blew through Chattanooga, his truck wasn’t so lucky. To make matters worse, he was just about to install a new starter and get it running, but until he completed that fix he kept it uninsured. So, place your antenna flag at half mast and wish Keith and his family well.
I ran across these images today of a rusted CJ-2A. The photos were taken in 2008 by Dave Scottin Heathcote, Ontario, Canada, and posted on Flickr. Check out the governer throttle along with the 3 datatplates. I think this sitting in a junkyard or in an area with other rusted vehicles. If you scroll over the map on Flickr, you can see exactly where it is. I think there might even be some useful parts on this, too. Given the governor throttle, I wondered if it might have a rear PTO (Click on the 3rd photo and I think you will see the top of a cutoff PTO lever). You can even almost make out the serial number on the data plate (click on image 2).
