UPDATE:  Still Available

(10/08/2012) The drain holes have been filled.  The windshield leans back a bit too far.  The jeep’s front bumper looks built for heavy duty.

“48 Willys. It runs really good! Great restoration project for someone. I just don’t have the time for it. $1,500 OBO. Come check it out. Thanks.”

1948 CJ-2A Waterloo, IA $3995

• CATEGORIES: CJ-2A • TAGS: This site contains affiliate links for which I may be compensated.

UPDATE: Still Available

(09/03/2013) Apparently has a cooling pressure problem.

“Up for sale is a 1948 Willys Jeep CJ-2A. This is an awesome jeep, but it needs to go to someone who can drive it more. This jeep has many modern upgrades that has made it much easier and safer to drive, it has been converted to a 12V system, has had lap seatbelts installed, electric fuel pump, lockable front hubs, and a tilt steering column with power steering. It has a Carter YS single barrel carburetor that has just been rebuilt. It was restored approximately ten years ago by the previous owner and had the frame and body cleaned and painted top to bottom inside and out. The jeep has the original frame and body, with the engine and transmission being rebuilt approximately four years ago, also the original transfer case and axles all in great shape. Both differentials have had new fluid with in the last 50 miles.

The jeep runs and drives but upon start up the cooling system has a lot of pressure and prevents it from being driven for long distances. It ran and drove no problem when we stored it and after a year we got it back out replaced the fuel pump, head gasket, and had the carb rebuilt, but still has high pressure in the cooling system. In the photos you will notices aftermarket seats and tail lights, both can be converted back with minor fabrication. Included in the sale is a set of original seat frames (not pictured). Please email for additional information or pictures”

1952 M-38 Tillamook, OR **SOLD**

• CATEGORIES: M-38 This site contains affiliate links for which I may be compensated.

UPDATE: **SOLD** Was $1250.

(12/15/2012) The engine and tranny are out of it.  This is a project.

“1952 Willys M38, military version of the CJ3A. The Willys does not have an engine or transmission/transfer case in it. I do have the transfer case. It has stock axels at each end. Dana 44 offset rear and Dana 25 front. The spider gears are welded on the front axle. Have a spare rear Dana 44 that’s locked. It has Selectro hubs. It’s been re-wired with a Painless wiring harness. It’s got a Mile Marker 12000 pound hydraulic winch mounted on it. It has power steering and disc brakes up front. Although I believe it needs a new master cylinder. It’s been lifted 2.5 inches and has 33×10.5×15 super swampers on 15×10 black steel wheels. I have a soft top and doors for it that I believe were new when I bought the Willys years ago. I never put them on, can’t find the bows. Solid body and tub. The Willys has been outside and needs new seats and cleaned up. I do have an assortment of other parts that can be negotiated for (small bock chevy 350, 4.3 vortec, v6 headers, truck 4-spd, advance adapter, full width axles). If you want more pics I can email or text them.

$1250 obo. Possible trade or part trade for older motorcycle, Monte Carlo, el camino, things that go bang, I have enough for hunting would like something fun or to carry.”

For some reason my search mechanisms aren’t working. I’m going to blame the storm that blew through an hour ago. Guess I’ll take the night off and try again Friday night.

It’s Book Launch Time!

• CATEGORIES: Features This site contains affiliate links for which I may be compensated.

Yeah, I know I said yesterday that I’d wait until next week, but Ann and I worked late into the morning to correct the last few details. In addition, the manuscript was approved quickly at Createspace. So, my first order of books arrives on Thursday the 12th. Those folks that bought pre-release readers versions will have their books shipped out on Friday the 13th.

So, if you weren’t a pre-release reader and want to get yourself or a friend a version, or just want to support eWillys, you can order books in two ways:

1) If you want a signed version, either email me at d@ewillys.com OR comment below. It’s $25 (which includes shipping).

2) If don’t care about it being signed, you can order the book through Createspace right now.

Want to learn more about the book, go to amberpanels.com. The novel, my first, combines thrills, chases, jeeps, art theft, and World War II. I’m told it’s a fast, fun read. Here are three reviews from pre-release readers:

David Eilers has written an exciting fast paced yet well balanced thriller. The compelling story spans both gritty and beautiful locations while making a jump from war-torn Europe to the supposedly peaceful American Northwest, all the while exposing the characters’ personalities in ways that add proper depth to the story. Likable but not perfect heroes, and sinister yet understandable villains. And somehow Dave weaves in jeep or two. I can recommend this book without reservation; however, it opens fast and keeps moving, so you may want to plan for reading it straight through. This book will also make great movie material. (In a way, it reminds me of Alfred Hitchcock’s North by Northwest.)  – Guy Kathe

You know, I think this book is on par with most any well known author I’ve ever read, in fact it’s much better than a lot of the Clive cussler books. His stories are great but the banter between his characters sometimes is pretty unrealistic. – Bob Christy

Amber panels……..never would have picked up such a book in a bookstore…..skimmed thru it backwards and said…this is going to be boring. Not my cup of tea. Then.. I got bored and needed to read something…so I started in. Holy historical novel, batman, you have a HIT. Could NOT put it down. Another home run. Better than your last, which was great. I loved how you got jeeps involved. – Bill Foshay

Fort Warren, WY, Postcard on eBay

• CATEGORIES: Features, Postcards This site contains affiliate links for which I may be compensated.

Here’s a postcard I hadn’t seen that Marc spotted.

“Postcard Era: Linen (primarily 1930’s & 1940’s)
Publisher: E.C. Kropp #27227N
Mailed: No
Condition: Good, with light edge wear and some foxing on the reverse. Please scans of both front and back of the card.

The “linen card” era lasted from about 1931 through the 1940’s, when new printing processes allowed printing on postcards made with a high rag content that created a linen-like finish. Postcards published in this era, with views of a particular city, town or tourist attraction inside large letters that spell out the name of the location, are called Large Letter Linens.”
