Jeep Station Wagon Ambulances

• CATEGORIES: Features, Fire/Police/Industry Vehicles, Willys Wagons This site contains affiliate links for which I may be compensated.

UPDATE: Note this toy jeep I found at the Snook Museum.

I just ran across this neat little story from indianamilitary.org. According to the story, in 1950 the Army bought 1000 Jeep Station Wagons and outfitted them for testing at Army Hospitals all over the country. The were painted Olive Drab and given government data plates. You can read the entire history and see all the pics here.

The 1951 Wagon below ended up at Camp Atterbury. It was sold in 1954 and then used and parked until it was restored. It sell has the original government data plate.

V-7 Body Works out of Chicago

• CATEGORIES: Advertising & Brochures, Features, Wood bodies • TAGS: This site contains affiliate links for which I may be compensated.

UPDATE II: I’ve added these two very rare photos from FB posted by Martin Sturm showing his grandmother next to a CJ-2A equipped with a V-7 Bodyworks hardtop.

=============================

UPDATE: Thanks to Jennifer, the granddaughter of the creator Sam Sevin of the V-7 hardtops, we now know who created them. There are newspaper clippings that indicate the company operated for a short time, roughly from 1948-1949. The company was formed by Sam and his brother Sol Sevin. Unfortunately, it appears the company didn’t not get the orders they’d hoped and was forced out of business.

Amerio Refridgerated Body Option

• CATEGORIES: Advertising & Brochures, Features, Fire/Police/Industry Vehicles This site contains affiliate links for which I may be compensated.

Amerio Refrigerating Equipment Company was based in Union City, New Jersey. They made a variety of different truck bodies for different vehicles. As the brochure below demonstrates, they also made them for CJ-2As. I’ve yet to come across one that still exists.

1948 CJ-2A Auburn, AL eBay

• CATEGORIES: CJ-2A • TAGS: , This site contains affiliate links for which I may be compensated.

Looks great.

“1948 Willys Model CJ-2A Jeep — older (1991) restoration by Willy’s of Minneapolis, MN costing $10,000 (have receipts showing complete mechanical rebuild and repaint). I am told the Jeep originally came from a North Dakota farm. It has the original tub which is very solid with no evidence of rust or major bodywork. Cosmetically, the Jeep is ‘parade’ ready; it’s not a show vehicle. The paint shows very well and has a few chips and scratches here and there. It is very clean from top to bottom. Mechanically, this jeep is very tight and everything works as it should. It starts, runs, and drives great — like it did in 1948.

Recently, the tires, brakes, shocks and springs have been renewed all around. It was converted to 12 volt with an alternator for ease of charging. When this conversion was made, they removed the oil filter assembly. I have a new replacement assembly from Walck’s that goes with the purchase as well as owners and parts manuals. There are no leaks, but a drip or two will show up on the floor after sitting for a time. The Jeep does not come with top bows or canvas top.”

1962 Wagon San Antonio, TX **SOLD**

• CATEGORIES: Willys Wagons • TAGS: This site contains affiliate links for which I may be compensated.

UPDATE: **SOLD** Was $8500.

This looks like a real nice wagon.

“I am selling my restored 1962 four wheel drive Willys Wagon. This vehicle has many new parts including a freshly rebuilt original engine (226), rebuilt carburator, electronic distributor, new suspension (shocks, shackles, leaf springs), completely refurbished interior seats, headliner, and diamond plate aluminum side panels, Pioneer AM/FM/CD player with four speakers, LED interior lights, electric wiper motor, American Racing 15″ rims with new BF Goodrich All Terrain T/A tires. New gas tank, gas lines and electric fuel pump. The gauges in the picture are Autometer gauges including a clock, volt meter, tach, and electric oil pressure around the original speedometer. Also installed is a new wiring harness along with new halo headlights and LED tail light bulbs. This vehicle does not go fast with 427 gears in both Front (Dana 25) and Rear (Dana 44) axles but it looks good going slow. The paint is a Laguna Blue Metalic Pearl both inside and out with Charcole Gray Metalic Pearl accenting both outside and inside. I am selling this beauty becasue I have a bad back and neck and just can not drive it any longer. I have it for sale locally and I serve the right to end the auction early. If you have any questions, please email them before bidding. I have invested a lot of time and money in this Willys so serious buyers only.”
