Importantly, the allure of buying a project jeep can be romantic. The reality of restoring a jeep can be quite different, expensive and overwhelming without the right tools and resources. Fred spotted this tow truck for sale. It’s got some work left, but looks like it will be a good looking truck when finished.
“I bought this truck to finish it but some other things came up so im gonna see what people will offer me for it it runs it lot drives it needs a windshield and some minor interior done but 1 catch i have no title i talked to a few people they say its easy but i have no clue my cop friend ran it before i bought it and it didnt come up stolen so lets see what people think about what its worth thanks for looking also it has a flat head 6cyl it runs but could use a tune up”

1962 Canyonlands Trip to film “The Sculptured Earth”
Frazier discovered these 1962 Canyonlands trip photos within the digital archives of the University of Utah. He’s a big Landrover fan, but also has a soft spot for old jeeps, too.
He wrote, “I thought you might be interested in these pictures I found in the University Of Utah’s digital library. They were taken during the filming of “The Sculptured Earth”, which was a film to promote the creation of Canyonlands National Park. You’ll have to excuse the university watermarks, but they are some pretty great shots.. (and yes, as you’ve probably found out by my email I’m a huge Land Rover fan…. But I have a deep obsession/respect for the vehicle that started it all!)”
According the to the University of Utah, The Sculptured Earth (see the photos below and more here)” was a 45-minute film promoting the creation of Canyonlands National Park, produced by Charles Eggert in 1962 at the request of Interior Secretary Stewart Udall and the National Park Service.

Not all original, but mostly original and looks solid.
“authentic 1947 willys . all original. the willys 4 cyl flat head is in excellent condition and mechanically sound I drive it daly. I purchased it 2 yrs ago to complete the restoration and have installed new brakes and master cyl fule pump ,carb, water pump, hoses and belts. new military tires , wires to complet restoration tub needs floor pan pass side . I have starterd new project ineed more room to work””

UPDATE: **SOLD** Was $3500
“M-170 is the long wheel base ambulance version of the standard military Jeep. This Jeep is in excellent running condition with a freshly overhauled engine, new clutch and battery. The body is in good condition with no rust issues. Is is under a “non-op” registration but is street legal. It needs a windshield. The tires are new but the wheels and tires are not original military. An excellent candidate for restoration or use as is for running the hills.”

(07/08/2012) The seller notes that he is the first civilian owner. There are pictures of it apart and together; I’m assuming it is together?
“1952 M-38 MILITARY JEEP. I AM THE FIRST CIVILIAN OWNER. THE JEEP IS IN ORIGINAL CONDITION. THE ENGINE HAS BE COMPLETELY REBUILT, A NEW WIRING HARNESS, NEW TIRES, NEW TOP (DOORS AND SIDE PANELS) MASTER CYLINDER. THERE ARE ALLOT OF EXTRAS TO GO WITH THIS

“For sale is our 1948 Willys CJ2A. When we got the Willys it had a 1950’s F-head engine in it, which required an ugly hood scoop. I purchased a correct flat-head engine for it, had the engine rebuilt (new bearings, oil pump, etc.), new clutch, pressure plate, throw-out bearing, new carb, trans seals, etc. Much nicer.
The pictures are a combination of before and after the engine swap, but hopefully I will get some better new pictures shortly.
It is a cool little vehicle and fun to putt around in. Clear Texas title in my name.
As to the trades, just let me know if you have something cool to trade. Not interested in boats however.
