Doesn’t have an engine.
“1948 Willys cj2a. Good condition, no engine $1300. Clean title.”
Pfc. Harold B. Whiting of Plainfield, New Jersey, built an award-winning model jeep that in 1946 that landed temporarily on display at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. This article was featured in the February 2, 1946, issue of the Afro-American. I wonder where that model is now??
An October 26, 1951, article from the Times-News of Henderson, North Carolina, reported that the State Supreme Court of Texas ruled jeeps were “uncouth . . . without beauty of line or body”! Obviously, this didn’t sit well with Willys Overland.
Here’s a nice looking 2A. The seller listed this elsewhere and was unsatisfied with the response. It sounds like he got a lot of people who just wanted to ride in it.
“Frame off restoration by owner with many new parts. NOS where possible. 6/8 volt. Civilian. Was a farm jeep so there are some dents in the bed. 4×4. High/Low gear box. 3 speed transmission. No PTO. 429xx miles on the odometer, but I cannot say it has never been replaced since I do not know that for sure.
Listing here on Craigslist for a more target audience. Had it listed on another site that had too many inquiries in too large an area for me to sort though and reply to.
If you were one of the many who inquired earlier please include the site you found it on so I know you are serious. Others, please do your homework on CJ2s so you know the basics about them. Asking questions where the answer is obvious is a sure tell sign you are not serious.
I don’t have time or the desire for showing just for the fun of it so make sure include enough info so I can determine how serious you are.”
UPDATE: **SOLD** Was $800
May be a good price.
“Up for sale is a nice little postal Jeep. It has a good running chevy 2.4 in it. Automatic, clean title, right side drive. Great little rig for the money. It has some dents and dings, but no major rust. I was going to turn it into a mobile shooting bench since it has rear ambulance doors. Needs a good cleaning, but drive able. Please let me know if you have any questions. Face to face sale only. ”
UPDATE: Still Available.
(06/13/2015) BIt runs.
“Good farm vehicle. Brakes, 4WD, ok. Engine needs tuning, some oil leaks. Have title.”
UPDATE: **SOLD** Was $2975
