1962 CJ-5 Pie Town, NM **SOLD**

UPDATE: **SOLD** Was $6500.

There’s no reason not to think this CJ-5 has only 29,000 miles.  It’s got a vintage top, looks solid, and even comes with an extension bed in the rear.

“Hunter’s special, 2 foot bed extender – 1962 Willys Jeep, only has 29,000 mi – F-Head 134, 4 cylinder.”

1954 CJ-3B Abrams, WI **SOLD**

• CATEGORIES: CJ-3B This site contains affiliate links for which I may be compensated.

UPDATE: **SOLD** Was $1200.

It runs.  This looks more like a chariot than a jeep 🙂

“I am selling my Willys Jeep. I bought it as a rock crawling project, but I am not able to finish. It has the original F-Head engine, with oil bath air filter. It starts right up and runs great. It has a 3 speed transmission with a Warn overdrive. New parts that I installed include: coil, distributor, and plugs. I have other new parts which are included but haven’t installed: master brake cylinder, all new brake cylinders and all small parts to rebuild the brakes. Also, new choke line, plug wires, oil filter, and fan belt. I also am including a chain assisted clutch linkage from Advanced Adapters, as the old clutch linkage is worn out.

The brake lines and fuel tank need to be replaced. The grill and hood are Willys stamped and have minimal/no rust. Tires hold air and have good tread. Roll bar is also included.
This jeep would make a great parts vehicle or as a foundation for a rock crawler.

1953 CJ-3B Bend, OR **SOLD**

• CATEGORIES: CJ-3B • TAGS: This site contains affiliate links for which I may be compensated.

UPDATE: **SOLD** Was on eBay

(11/17/09) Here’s a CJ-3B that looks in good shape, though the exterior has been painted with a bed liner.

“For sale is an excellent condition 1953 Cj3b.  I purchased the jeep in Kalispell, Montana in 2000.  Since then, it has made several moves around the country and finally wound up here in Bend, Oregon.  I kept the jeep in its original terrible condition for seven long years and would receive the half-hearted thumbs-up at stoplights.  Now it turns heads everywhere it goes.  The jeep has a bad history of turning a 10 minute trip to the store into a two hour discussion with an oldtimer who used to farm his property with this same model.  Everywhere you drive, expect to stop and talk.  We have even been pulled over by the state police, not because we were speeding (that’s impossible except for in school zones) but because he was curious to find out what was under the hood; having never seen the Willy’s high-hood before….”

Rubber Drive during WWII

• CATEGORIES: Features, Library Collections, Old Images, War Images • TAGS: This site contains affiliate links for which I may be compensated.

According to the Library of Congress, there was a serious scarcity of crude rubber, so reclaimed rubber made from scrap was required to meet demands. All Americans were encouraged to donate used or worn out rubber articles to the nation’s scrap piles.

As part of that campaign, Judy Canova, star of stage and screen, opened her personal salvage drive for scrap rubber in September 1942 by donating her personal slingshot to the drive.  Behind here is an image I’ve seen before, but I’ve never seen it used as part of the ‘Save Rubber’ campaign.

De-icer + Snow System = Power Boost?

• CATEGORIES: Features This site contains affiliate links for which I may be compensated.

While doing some other research, I found this interesting blog entry about the benefits of a Water Methanol Injection System.  One of the more unique aspects of this is that the ‘fuel’ is simply de-icer purchased from Autozone.  My question would be, why install a separate container;  instead just tap into the existing de-icer container (of course, most jeeps don’t have these in the first place).

Mr. Greenwrench writes on his blog, “Before the Snow System I was always adding octane booster or buying 8 dollar a gallon unleaded Race fuel. Now with this system I add de-icer fluid(25%water75%methanol) I  get from Auto Zone and I forget about the octane booster and race gas. The power increase you get, well that happens in a big way. How about 33 horsepower at the rear wheels with no additional tuning on the car.Just bolt the system on and go. The system goes on very easy and if you do have a problem their Tech department is superb!!”

You can read the entire article here or visit Snow Performance’s home page here.  You can also read some other reviews about water/methanol injection here.  Anyone ever tried this system or something similar?

Below is an injection system installed in a 1987 buick.  It looks like a fun experiment to try.
