John spent this past fall and winter doing some cosmetic restoration to this great looking GPW. John says he’s keeping this GPW for a while, so please don’t send him any sales inquiries. Thanks for sharing!

Here some pics of Australian Troops during WWII from the Library of Congress.
Taken in March, 1943, In New Guinea. This Willys serves as an ambulance for Australian troops in New Guinea. Library of Congress

Here’s some troops navigating through some muck. This convoy is carrying military chiefs and cabinet ministers on a visit to battle areas in New Guinea. Air Vice-Marshall G. Jones is shown in the leading vehicle during the tour of the convoy. Library of Congress

This image might not be Australian Troops, but it is supposed to be taken in October of 1942 in Australia. Library of Congress.

Soldiers, wounded in the fighting in New Guniea, are carried to a base. Library of Congress.

This was taken in March of 1943. Australian troops and supplies go to the front line at Buna. Library of Congress.

Jalopy Journal has a short thread with a variety of pics. The wagon that caught my eye is shown below, a creatively constructed ‘party wagon’. I love it! There’s a few more pics of this at the website.

(06/01/09) The seller says this is a ’46, but the body looks more like a MB/GPW body. There’s no gas inlet and no bow holders.
“Willing to trade for a 4×4 chevy or import truck. Contact via email for more details”

The seller claims this jeep only has 5100 miles. It looks pretty stock, but hard to believe the miles are that low.

“1949 willlys jeep with all toyota running gear; 20r eng, transmission, transfer case and rear ends. Great project to finish up and get out on the trail. Needs a few things finished up but I have all the parts needed. I also have two toyota parts rigs that can go with it for free. It has a soft top but not in great shape and it also has a new bikini top and new tires.”

UPDATE: **SOLD** Was on eBay.
The drain holes have been plugged, which I suspect means there’s been some work done on the passenger and driver’s side areas of the body.
“You are 1946 Willys in great condition. This truck has been completely restored and looks and runs great. It has always been garage kept. We are selling it due to lack of room.
