UPDATE: Price dropped to $5500.
(01/18/2014) I don’t often see a Capstan Winch on a CJ-5.
“Up for sale is a 1959 Willys Cj-5 with a rare Braden J-2 Capstan winch. The jeep runs and drives great but the brakes are inop. Trans/t-case are in working order. The engine starts right up and runs great with the exception of the exhaust needing to be replaced. The Capstan winch is complete and operates smoothly. The winch is correct for a WWII Willys Mb or Ford Gpw and would look great on your restoration. It can also be left on the Jeep like it is currently for that oopsy when you get stuck on the trail. I have a clear Michigan title. I also have many other Willys Jeeps and parts. E-mails will not be responded to. Please call (906) two eight seven fourteen hundred”
North Washington Trip | July 30th Oroville to Colville –>
MONDAY: Pasco to Winthrop
We left Pasco at noon on Monday the 28th. It was already 100 degrees. It’s a good thing the jeep has air-conditioning! As you can see from the pics, the view is pretty good. They had some pretty good looking food, too. We had ice-cream.

Maggie spotted this CJ-5 with some extras. I’ve don’t remember seeing a jeep this late with a lift on it.
“1974 CJ5 Jeep with Blade and Bucket Single Bottom Plow Attachments 3,500 Miles Showing”
This November 1942 article from Popular Mechanics titled “Miracle on Wheels” featured the jeep and shared some of the success stories from its use internationally. You can read the entire issue on Google or purchase a cheap copy off of eBay
Marc found this interesting photo of a Holden Ambulance jeep during the battle of Saipan on eBay. The text on the back of the photo is hard to read.
UPDATE: **SOLD** Was on eBay
Here’s a neat Northern Pacific Railroad ad from the 1952 November issue of the Saturday Evening Post featuring a Willys Hy-Rail Wagon.
I also ran across this Southern Pacific Hi-Rail Wagon from freerails.com:

According to the caption, this photo shows the rear of General Montgomery’s jeep as prisoners walk by it.
This looks in good shape.
“1951 Willys truck 4×4. Solid. Fresh paint, new interior, and window seals. Original flathead 4cyl. Just needs someone to finish. Also have 2 extra axles that can go with. Needs a little TLC.”
