UPDATE: **SOLD** Was $9800.
(09/23/2014) Mostly stock CJ-3A powered by a Ford 289.
“About this Jeep:
We took this 1949 Willy’s CJ-3A in on trade from a Marine. Normally, the early 50’s jeeps would be outfitted with a L4-134 CID (2.2L) 4-cyl engine that made 60 HP. This jeep went though a restoration about 10 years back, and decisions were made. The jeep would be brought back to original it’s glory with one exception – the 60 horsepower engine would be replaced with a high output V8 from a Ford Mustang – a 289 4-bbl v8 producing 271 hp! 4WD with newer tires and runs out great, paint could use some touch up in spots.
Looks solid, but not ‘completely stock’. A steering box has been added and wiring updated with fuses. Looks solid.
“This is the Jeep you want…it has never been butchered or modified, it is completely stock. I am the 3rd owner. The only modifications that I have done is install Saginaw steering and Warn front hubs. The engine has a very fresh complete overhaul professionally done with approximately 5000 miles. It comes with a metal half cab with metal doors and soft doors. I hate to part with it but it is time for something different.”
Looks like some bondo on the driver side. Unclear what modifications the seller is eluding to.
“Clean title, running, original owner parts receipts with modifications done by professional mechanic shop. Comes with manual and top”
UPDATE: Price dropped to $1800.
(08/18/2014) That front bumper sure is twisted! Runs and drives.
“1949 cj3a Willys running last summer. Engine runs good no smoke. Frame is solid. had plans to rebuild just have no time. Needs starter and fuel tank. Might be interested in trade for 4×4 atv.”
It’s a parts jeep.
“1948 jeep cj3A being sold for parts but car is more or less complete except for headlight buckets original running gear plus extra set of engine, trans., ft. and rear axles.”
UPDATE: **SOLD** Was $3500.
(07/18/2014) Includes an extra, stock tub.
“1950 CJ3A Willys Jeep for sale. Original 6 volt system with Go-Devil engine. Runs solid with title in hand. Jeep needs minor brake work and is ready for the road (or off road). Many extras are included.
I bought this as a restoration project but no longer have the time. I have pictures of the whole process if the buyer is interested. This jeep is solid and comes with an extra original tub. There is nothing wrong with the current tub… but it had body work done to it in the past (not uncommon) that took away some of the original elements. I found an unmolested tub in Nebraska and had it shipped here and was converted it to original.
The title is clean and I will be sorry to see this jeep go, but need to devote my time elsewhere. Price is negotiable if the owner is not interested in the extra tub.”
UPDATE: **SOLD** Was $6500
(04/30/2013) I’ve never seen a handle mounted quite like that on a hood.
“1952 willys jeep..4 cyl flat head..rebuilt 10 years ago”
UPDATE: Was $1495. **SOLD**
(06/12/20214) “Willys cj3a in restorable condition. This willys is complete and has everything original. It has been sitting outside for many years, so it needs lots of TLC. engine is seized but can be broken loose. Because it has been in the weather so long, many of the components are rusted and need replacing. Tires are new but dry rotted. The willys has a story and actual miles is around 43,000. Oh, did I mention that I have a good Tennessee title.”
