Importantly, the allure of buying a project jeep can be romantic. The reality of restoring a jeep can be quite different, expensive and overwhelming without the right tools and resources. Either the tailgate has been patched or this jeep has a fiberglass body. I can’t tell which from these pics. The back part of the roll cage is somewhat unusual — at least I haven’t seen the bars organized quite like that before.

This jeep was listed back in January. The builder put in a toyota drive train without dramatically modifying the normal flattie look.

This CJ-3a has a got a few updates, so it may not be a bad price for $2000. The top looks in good condition as well.

“Take this jeep to the mountains for the summer! It has many upgrades: 12 volt battery, electric ignition, power steering, Buick V6 engine, upgraded brakes. It isnt currently running but wouldnt take much to get it going. Great project for someone who loves the old Willys Jeeps. Email for more info.”
This CJ-3A looks in great shape with straight fenders, hood and body.
"It has the original flat head 4 cylinder engine and it runs great. Mileage is in excess of odometer limits. It has new wires, plugs and rebuild carburetor. I had the transmission rebuilt (new gears, bearings, bushings….the along with the brakes (great condition). Only 17k miles on this very stock CJ-3A. Sherwood is southwest of Portland. Seems a pretty good price.
"1949 Willy's Jeep, mostly original, runs like a top. Have new soft top and doors still in box, all new brake hydraulics and linings, 17K, 2 sets tires, master cylinder, wheel cylinders, brake hoses, etc. replaced recently. Carburetor overhauled. This looks to be the same fiberglass body as my first jeep. The seller is correct; this body is light — I used to move the body myself by crouching underneath it and picking it up on my back (my current body is somewhat heavier). However, I disagree with the seller; this body makes a fine jeeping body. But, if used for jeeping, tie a cage to the frame and use the cage to help support the body.

UPDATE: Tom Florenz just let me know that these jeeps are still available.
These will require a closer look.
"2 for the price of 1. Clear titles. Don't run. Have extra transfer case with pto. 52 needs an engine, clutch and one of the transfer cases installed, and the steering finished converted. The 51 looks to be as stock as I know with the L134 engine. After I got it home and cleaned out the junk I found most of the engine parts. It will need to be rebuilt. the 51 could be towed the 52 will have to be trailered. More pictures available. originally purchased to honor a fallen Marine (former student). No heart to finish the job."
