Importantly, the allure of buying a project jeep can be romantic. The reality of restoring a jeep can be quite different, expensive and overwhelming without the right tools and resources. UPDATE: **SOLD** Was $5500.
Here’s a solid looking CJ-3B. No obvious rust, few noticable mods, and a straight body.
“I am selling a classic Willys CJ3-B from 1959 for $5500 OBO. The interior and engine are original and in good condition. The paint is a nice grey and in very good condition, just not the original any more.”
Not many specifics listed. It appears mostly stock. Only one pic in ad.

Can you tell what’s been done to this CJ-3B? The builder has extended the front by 3″ – 6″, probably because they’ve dropped this body onto a longer frame (70’s cj-5 maybe?).

The image is small, so it’s hard to tell much. There seems to be a slightly funky angle to that passenger fender near the step.

UPDATE: **SOLD** Was $1700.
I suspect underneath that diamond plating (I think it is diamond plating) is some wear & tear or rust. Otherwise, it’s a running CJ-3B that looks pretty good for only $1700.

“I purchased this Jeep out of a collection years ago. The first few summers I drove it back and forth to work. Top off, and windsheild frame down !!! The Jeep was restored in 1997. 11 years now. It was a Nebraska Jeep.. The motor and driveline was rebuilt. Axles and brakes gone thru. New brake lines. New exhaust. The list goes on and on. seats were recovered, new top, Wheels powdercoated, New gauges and switchs.The jeep has a nice new style fuse box with new wiring from front to rear. One receipt I have from the restoration totals $3,800.00 alone ….”
There’s a small chance this is a CJ-3B rather than a CJ-5. No pics shown.
“Jeep is solid and runs strong, has a 350 chevy motor with a 4 bolt main, size 31 tires like new, new brakes upgraded from 9 inch to 11 inch(cost 800.00), new rag top, snow plow with mounting bracket for the jeep, great for a hunting camp or for play, must sell need room for other toys. 570-778-1008”

“This is a 1953 Jeep CJ3B. Body is in good shape but has no engine or transmission. CJ3B’s are getting pretty hard to find. Asking $4000. For more information call to Surplus City Jeep parts”
UPDATE: This jeep has been listed on eBay. In the last auction, the price reached $3650, but that was below the reserve. This time it appears there is no reserve.
“1953 CJ-3B Willys Jeep. Garage kept. New BFG 35″ Muds. New Warn 9500ti high speed winch. Ford 289 Mustang V8, t5 transmission and t18 transmission with warn overdrive kit, full size spare with jerry can on custom tire carrier, corbeau bucket seats, full roll cage. Sounds like it might be mostly stock. Nice restore.
