Importantly, the allure of buying a project jeep can be romantic. The reality of restoring a jeep can be quite different, expensive and overwhelming without the right tools and resources. “1942 Jeep, turn key. Hurricane 6 cylinder over head valve engine. Lots of power. rebuilt carb, new springs. nice tires, clear title, no rust. tune up. Very nice jeep to drive.$3500”

“Willys MB, WWII Jeep. Rough, but runs well. Can be restored to original. New wheel bearings & brakes. Some spares & WWII paint. 4 cyl, 3 speed 4WD.”
This MB looks like a play jeep. It does not appear to be licensed. I wonder if the stock axles were upgraded. I’d think that power and those tires would be hard on stock MB axles.
“I’VE OWNED LOTS OF JEEPS IN THE PAST, BUT THIS ONE IS MY FAVORITE IN THE PAST I’VE TURNED DOWN NUMEROUS OFFERS TO SELL IT BUT COULD NOT PART WITH IT. WILLY HAS A 283 CHEVY V-8 RUNS SMOOTH, QUIET,AND COOL. IT HAS HEADERS AND GLASS PACKS AND SOUNDS LIKE A V-8 SHOULD. IT HAS A 350 TURBO TRANSMISSION WHICH HAS BEEN REBUILT AND IS A STOCK TRANNY. THE REST OF THE DRIVE TRAIN IS STOCK I THINK? WITH THE EXCEPTION OF THE 4X4 LOCK OUT HUBS. FOR ADDED DRIVE ABILITY I’VE ADDED A STEERING BOX WITH A GM POWER STEERING PUMP WHICH MADE A WORLD OF DIFFERENCE IN MANEUVERING THE 31 X15 GOODYEAR TERRA TIRES ON 14 INCH WIDE STEEL RIMS.”
This is right over the hill from me. I really don’t know how rare these are, but I could run and pick it up if someone’s interested in it.
“Hard to find single rib Willys bell housing for 4 Cylinder L-Head (CJ2A, MB, GPW Jeep). I removed this from my GPW. It’s in good shape with no cracks. It will bolt up to a T90 and T84 transmission. It’s for the CJ2A jeep or early flat fenders. It includes the original inspection cover. Somebody drilled another drain hole in the bottom (see photo).”
It isn’t clear to me whether this runs or not.
“1942 Willies Military (Navy) Jeep complete with most original hardware. $1,700 includes extra engine. Ready for restoration.”
This appears to have a later model windshield. It’s hard to tell much else from the pictures.
“New L head engine and clutch , runs good willing to take offers.”
I think the price is a bit high on this jeep, given it isn’t running and has no title, but if the price drops, this could be a reasonable project. It sounds like the project has a lot of new parts that just need to be put together, though I suspect, as usual, it will be a bit more complicated than that.
“You are bidding on a 1945 Willys MB Army Jeep that is three quarters restored. This jeep has $12,500.00 invested into it so far. The jeep has a new tub which sits on the chassis but has not been bolted down though new rubber mounts and bolts included in the sale. The motor and chassis are 100% restored. The motor, transmission, transfer case and rear end were completely rebuilt. The brakes are complete including all new components and master cylinder including all steel and rubber lines. It has combat wheels on all 4 corners and original looking WW2 tires….”
Though it’s in ok condition, these don’t pop up everyday.
“I have a garaged Willys MB body for sale. It includes the speedometer and 3 of the 4 gauges. I am going away for school and would like to see this go to a good home. The body is in OK condition with some rust in the normal problem areas. The pictures aren’t the best, but I’ll answer any questions anyone may have.”
The image on the Ad was a bit dark, so I lightened up. I don’t see a Jeep, but I do see smoke.
