Importantly, the allure of buying a project jeep can be romantic. The reality of restoring a jeep can be quite different, expensive and overwhelming without the right tools and resources. As best I can tell, it doesn’t appear to be a VEC to me.

(07/15/2010) The seller doesn’t mention that this body has been stretched. I wonder if those are actually chrome headers rather than stainless headers.

(07/05/09) “1942 Willys CJ2A on a CJ3A Frame Stretched 5” Mid door, 2 Wheel Drive, Dana 44 Posi with 5.88 Gear Ratio. rolling chassy and body roll cage no engine or trans. ( 2 will drive sand racer). Need to sell.
UPDATE: **SOLD** Was $2900.
It’s not much of a VEC any more, but it still has the indents at the very least. The tires and rims appear in good condition. This might be a good price. The seller notes there is no rust, but there is an odd plate underneath the passenger step.

Assuming the data plate belongs to this jeep, I’d guess this jeep to be a late ’46 at the earliest — not that it really matters given the custom mods.

If the front half of the body is still sound (which I doubt), this might be an interesting restoration as something unusual.
