Importantly, the allure of buying a project jeep can be romantic. The reality of restoring a jeep can be quite different, expensive and overwhelming without the right tools and resources. Jim spotted this nice looking CJ-5. It looks like it has a Tuxedo Park Package and appears to have the Indian Ceramic steering wheel.
“From high up in the mountains of central Colorado comes a very well preserved, 1964 CJ5 that is largely unmolested. The reason I say largely unmolested is that other than a carburetor change to aid the drivability at altitude, this jeep is all original from factory paint to the factory upholstery. The original Carter Carburetor is included, along with the air cleaner ducting should the buyer wish to return it to its stock configuration. Carter did offer a “High Altitude” kit for the “Hurricane 4″but it was rated rated at 4000 ft above sea level, but when you consider that this jeep lives at 8000 ft, and a ride into the high country may find it 13,000’+, you see the Carter solution is not viable. Re-jet you say? Carter used metering rods instead of jets, so that’s why it has the very popular Weber Progressive 2 bbl. conversion which allows re-jetting to accommodate the thin air.

Runs and has a rear PTO.
“1961 jeep willy’s Run’s and drives no 3rd gear the person I bought the Jeep from said everything work so don’t know if it’s due to sitting for a long period of time if the synchronizer bad in the transmission or not but the PTO works in 3rd gear, body is rough great project or parts Jeep standard transmission PTO on the rear.”

“Perfect winter project or potential parts vehicle. 1965 CJ-5 Kaiser Jeep 4×4. Clean Colorado Title. I bought this jeep two years ago for $1800 based on the recommendation of a jeep enthusiast who was going to help me rebuild it. He got transferred for work and the reason I’m selling. My loss is your gain. $1500 OBO. There is a bent rod in the motor (4-cylinder Willys Hurricane), otherwise it ran solid. Swing by and take a look if you’re interested. I don’t know the front or rear end, transmission or transfer case specifics. The Jeep is located in Loveland, CO. The seats are still in the Jeep, I took them out to show the overall condition of the floor board.”

If you have a Tuxedo Park, this could make a good parts jeep.
“One of 7500 ever made, the F-Head 4cyl version was only made in 1964.
This vehicle is rusty, but unmolested.
1964 Kaiser Jeep CJ5 Tuxedo Park Mark IV
F-134 Hurricane, 6v, motor turns over good and has good compression, exhaust manifold is off of it right now.
Three on the Tree 3 speed trans
Lockout hubs
Dealer equipped Hard top and doors
Has a Michigan Parts title in my name, all you need is an inspection to make sure its road worthy and MI will issue a Regular title.”

“This Jeep is a complete frame off restoration!
No rust anywhere! Frame sandblasted and painted. Both sides of every body panel soda blasted to bare metal. All body panels are original.
Has seat belts and all lights, turn & brake lights work. Temp gauge is the only thing that does not work.
New brakes, lines, wheel cylinders, clutch, gas tank, tires and fuel pump. Carb professionally rebuilt- runs perfect!
This Jeep is Parade or show ready!!”

This is an ex-Fire Chief jeep. Lots of pics provided.
” You are viewing a 1962 Willys CJ5, with 46,002 miles showing, V.I.N. # 57548. Fire Chief Red exterior, with a black vinyl interior. 4-cylinder engine, with a 3-Speed manual transmission, lock-out hubs, and high-low gear box. This Jeep was fully restored approximately 20 year’s ago, and was used sparingly by a local fire department for parades and special events. It most recently was stored for the last five years until recently. It runs great,and everything work’s as it should. It is very clean from top to bottom!”

“1958 Willy’s Jeep CJ-5 4×4. Includes a 4 cylinder OHV and manual transmission. Complete frame over restoration done in 2013. This Jeep was originally build for Douglas Aircraft California as an Airport Fire Fighting Vehicle. Very Rare as it’s only 1 of 6 that were ever made. 150 Gallon Water Tank + PTO Pump. The Jeep drives great and impossible to find in this condition.”
