Importantly, the allure of buying a project jeep can be romantic. The reality of restoring a jeep can be quite different, expensive and overwhelming without the right tools and resources. “1960 DJ3A Chevy V6 Automatic. Showcar condition.”
The seller is looking to sell this to someone who will properly restore it.
“Due to moving back to Germany i am offering my DJ3A (1963 with title) and a CJ3A chassis with drive train. I really want to give it to the right person. I have both units here in Ft Lauderdale and have to move them quick. About 1500.00 for both but any offer is welcome. The trailer is brand new and can be bought for 2K as well. Engines turn over, DJ3A needs suspension, brakes, floor, tub, fender and door restore as well as upholstery. Not a quick fix. But one of few!”

It runs, but is a bit odd. The body might be from a DJ.
“I have a 1953 willys Jeep that has tons of new parts, way to many to list, this Jeep is a great running trail, farm, rig. Has been on road last three years, need to sell got to many projects.”

I don’t see to many surreyized CJ-2As.
“1948 Willys CJ2A in pretty good shape. Does not have a title. I have not started it in about 8 years, but have oil in the cylinders. It was converted to 12 volt. Transfer case or 4 wheel drive works.I have the doors, but are not shown installed. One window is cracked in one of the doors. Have been meaning to restore and get new parts to tighten up the steering and suspension. It needs brake work. Two new tires on the back. Have an extra seat and two old heaters to go with it. Stored in the barn for the last 16 years.”

“I have a 1960 Willys CJ3 with working 4×4, working wench and remote with about 6 feet of cable, has a stereo and a bikini top. The paint has been redone last year it is camoflauge with a clear coat, good looking jeep. Makes an excellent off road vehicle, I have yet to go anywhere that it hasn’t gotten me through, would be a great deer lease or ranch vehicle. It has antique tags good thru Feb 2013. The windshield is cracked but you can still see through it very easily, good tires. Make me an offer but no ignorant offers will be considered, I WILL NOT RESPOND VIA EMAIL SO CALL OR TEXT might be interested in trades text with what you have in mind thanks 512 7 zero one 3 five 6 zero text for pics”
I received an email from Paul the other day and the subject read ‘Refreshing’. One quick look at the picture in the email explained what he meant (see the 1st picture below).
Yep, that is one pretty jeep!
Using the keyword “Wailea” I started tracking down more pictures of it. It turns out Colin has a couple of them too, as does a friend of his. So, here are a few of this jeep that is still owned by the Wailea Hotel in Maui (boy, after today’s cold weather, Maui is sounding awfully nice!)

“1956 CJ3A Flat Fender Fiberglass Jeep on a 69 CJ frame, Spicer 44, Locker Front End, Straight Thru Transfer Case, Narrowed 9″ Ford Rear Diff, Chevy 350 w/ Aluminum High Rise Holly 4 Barrell, Headers, RV Cam, Turbo 400 Tranny, B&M Shifter. Super Swampers. This is a parts jeep or a major project. Must be trailered home, Located at the Caldwell Airport in a Hangar. $2,000”
Colin was searching the web and accidentally ran across this jeep.
He writes, “While browsing the web . . . I found this photo, which is obviously misnamed. The caption says it is a 1948 VJ2 Jeepster(NOT!), but it is what I think is a factory photo of a prototype DJ3A with the low windshield, convertible top and a 48-49 Jeepster T-Bar on the grille.”
Note both the T-Bar grille and the way the top connects the windshield. Anyone seen other pics of this?
