Importantly, the allure of buying a project jeep can be romantic. The reality of restoring a jeep can be quite different, expensive and overwhelming without the right tools and resources. That Landing Craft Retriever looks like a real-life transformer!

“1957 Press Photo Fort Story, Virginia-An Army landing craft retriever and Jeep. This is an original press photo. Fort Story, Virginia-The Army’s conventional “jeep” squeezes over to the side of the road to make room for a new landing craft retriever. Weighing 101 tons, the LCR is 75 feet long, 38 feet wide and 23 feet high. It is used by the Army to repair over-turned or beached landing craft. It can drive over the craft and lift it for re-floating or repair, much like vehicles utilized in lumber yards. (US Army-ships-boats & crafts) Photo measures 9 x 7.25 inches. Photo is dated 05-07-1957.”

“Up for your consideration is this Vintage 1950s RARE Dealership Promo JEEP Willys FC 150 or FC 170 TRUCK Chrome Desktop ASHTRAY. I’m not certain which year of these trucks this is and will leave that up to the experts. Ashtray is in pre-owned condition and shows some scuffs and light pitting to the chrome from use and age. Measures a 6″ diameter. Don’t miss out you’ll be hard pressed to find another.”
I had to look up Hollandia. The Battle of Hollandia was part of Operation Reckless.

Here’s an unusual Willys ambulance brochure in French.
“Original Willys Ambulance folder brochure. Covers MIL-NER model 475 (4WD). Brochure is in French language ONLY. NO English. Measures about 8-1/2″ x 11″. Used Condition. Shows wear, stains.”

“JEEP WILLYS 1950s dealer brochure – French – Canada – ST501000818”
Canadians Kurt Luchia and his father Perry, who was suffering from Parkinson’s, rebuilt a 1956 CJ-3B. This past summer (2018) Kurt drove it from Melfort to Moose Jaw, Canada (355 KM), to raise $3550 for Parkinson’s research. You can read the article here:

Jim shared this magazine advertisement featured in the August 1973 issue of Four Wheeler Magazine.
For comparison, two years earlier, in 1971, this ad below was published in PNW4WDA Region 1 directory.
A 1970 Four Wheeler article that introduced the Bobcat body to folks outside the Pacific Northwest featured this logo, which was used in both ads above.
