“1954 Willys Jeep M170

Was in Korean War, came from Arizona, no rust, solid frame, mostly original paint running great, no leaks, four-wheel-drive works, needs some basic attention steering links loose some brake work. Hard to find body style.
Great find for someone to finish off right.

There are some “pristine” elements to this, but it lacks some original parts.

Tim’s been working on this M-170, bringing it back to stock. One feature he really likes is the Metro Engineering and Manufacturing Top, which was extended to fit his M-170. Tim’s searching for some M-170 seats (probably the same as M-38A1 seats?? Can someone clarify this??).
“I’ve converted the engine back to 24 volts. The unique thing with this M170 is the top. It’s an M38a1 (I think) top that was cut and stretched 20 inches next to the door. Who ever did this did a great job. I like this better than canvas tops. If some one needs measurements contact me. One photo has the tag info on the top.”
There must be $250 worth of value?
“1954 Willys M170 Army Ambulance Jeep. Selling what’s left over after being a restoration parts donor. Drivetrain is all there less engine. Two original wheels on rear. Rusty Blah.”
The M-170 is $13,900 and the CJ-5 $2000.
“Located at Hillsboro Chrysler, we have a running and driving M170 ambulance and a CJ5 that needs some work. Starting at $2000 for the CJ5 and $13900 for the M170. ”
UPDATE: **SOLD** Was $5500.
(09/12/2016) Could be a drive-now and restore as desired type of jeep.
“1954 USMC M170 Willys ..runs, drives, stops. You may have seen it running around Hibbing or Side Lake in the last few yrs.
Please do some research online …USMC M170 1954. About 3300 built from 54 to 64, few for the Marine Corps. Find specs like 55mph and 15mpg, unlike it’s predecessors.
It is mechanically a M38A1; for the most part, so parts are inexpensive and easily found online or even out of the TwinCities supply co.
I sanded areas looking for “ambulance” markings and found none. I media-blasted it so as to see real condition …unbelievable that something this old can be this rust-free/straight. One of the reasons I attribute to the “undercoating” the Marine Corps used, that makes current high-dollar bed-liners look weak. I sprayed a couple coats of “green” to keep the condition. It is not “restored”, it’s in honest condition w/nothing hiding.
