Importantly, the allure of buying a project jeep can be romantic. The reality of restoring a jeep can be quite different, expensive and overwhelming without the right tools and resources. “I have owned this 1955 M38A1 Military Jeep for 39 years and for the past 29 years it has been stored indoors, it runs fine and is still in good shape. It has the original 4 cylinder overhead engine and has been rebuilt. Jeep body is original, brakes function but need some work.
I always intended to restore it to the original military look but lost interest and hope that someone else can take up where I left off.”

This was a Marine Corps jeep that has Radio data plates.

I don’t often see a hood scoop on an M-38A1/CJ-5 hood. I thought that was interesting. Has lots of other updates.

“Have a 52 military m38a1 Jeep project I would like to sell. Have a clean title and service records. Rust free tub with many extras. Have rust free fenders 2 hoods 1 original block that is free turning, two of basically everything mechanical. Extra front and rear axle. No parting out all or nothing!!!! “This jeep is in good original condition. Just hit 40,000 miles. Jeep is close to being 100% original. Replaced batteries and motor was rebuilt less than 300 miles ago. Runs and drives great. Would make the perfect candidate if you wanted to do a frame off restoration there is no rust in the vehicle or frame. You could keep the vehicle just like it is and enjoy its originality.”

“Last person bailed on our agreement. would like find it a new home before storing it for the winter!!
This m38a1 is slightly modified it has a about a 3 inch shackle lift with upgraded springs, a 1978 buick v6, a warn over drive unit, has been converted to 12v and the seats were jus redone. Everthing else is stock. Body is in above average shape compared to the others on craigslist but it is not a beauty queen. This jeep has done everything I’ve wanted it to do.”
