The new design …. isn’t done yet.   I’ve reverted back to the old design.  I’ve made some good strides on it, but there’s more to be done.  I’m going to focus on my next book for a short while and return to the updated site changes at a future date.

Updates later tonight . . .

Just a few Updates Today

• CATEGORIES: News This site contains affiliate links for which I may be compensated.

I got distracted by a few things today, including hunting down Gus and the Model Garage stories involving jeeps (read the first installment of that below).

Last night I revamped the eBay section some.  There’s more that I hope to do.  I’ve expanded the search keywords as well.  Besides a little nice look, when you run your cursor over the picture it will expand so you can see it better.

I am also hoping to get the new version of the site running this weekend.  The reason for the new version of the site is that I decided that creating a separate app for phone users would be unnecessary if I could implement a website that ‘degraded’ well onto the mobile platform.  After doing my research on mobile apps and experimenting, I found that developing for the iPhone (and other platforms) was more frustrating than I expected (and more difficult than advertised).  To explain much more requires understanding how the web is moving towards a HTML5 and CSS3 foundation, how phones are embracing that technology differently (differently among different devices as well as the web itself) and how they are implement those programming techniques on top of the their native programming and how only natively programmed apps (especially on the iPhone) actually run the best.  So, in the end, building a better mobile sensitive website is a better use of my time.

If the above paragraph doesn’t make sense to you, don’t worry.  I wish it didn’t make sense to me either (and didn’t a month ago before I started the app development process).

James spotted this article.  According to it, a British company has built a special operations jeep  they call Pegasus, using a Wrangler as the foundation.  The company built the frame to fit inside a CH-47 Chinook. It is 201 inches long, 79 inches wide, 72 inches tall with an 11 inch ground clearance. It has a curb weight of 6,610 pounds and a potential payload of 3,310 pounds

According the the article, “It is named after the Pegasus Bridge crossing the Caen Canal the British 6th Airborne Division wrenched from the Germans in the invasion of Normandy in World War II …. ”

1953 M-38A1 Denver, Co $11,000

• CATEGORIES: News • TAGS: This site contains affiliate links for which I may be compensated.

This appears in good condition.  I think this might have been the text from an eBay ad, because it has a ‘buy it now’ reference.  I think the third party appraiser has been partying too much given the appraised value of $11,000.   The seller will do better if they paint it OD green and put some military tires on it.  Those metal (as opposed to aluminum cast) slots in that good of shape are hard to find.

“Collector owned. Collector has Street rods, frame off restored muscle cars, woody’s, Mopar’s, classic trucks, etc and this Willys Jeep is one of the many in his collection.

THIS JEEP WAS JUST APPRAISED AT A VALUE OF $11,000.00 BY A CERTIFIED THIRD PARTY APPRAISER (SEE APPRAISAL BELOW WHICH IS INCLUDED WITH THE SALE OF THE VEHICLE). NOTE: THE COLLECTOR IS A MOTIVATED SELLER. Call me for a buy it now.

A show and award winning full frame off restoration of this Willys Jeep proves it to be one of the nicest restorations around today. OVER $16K INVESTED in the frame off, nut and bolt, restoration. Heavy documents and receipts included.

With the original F Head 4 cylinder motor that has less than 2,000 miles on it, this Jeep has seen very little road time. Car has never seen rain and has only been driven around town. Jeep likes like showroom new.

The interior and floor pan are in excellent condition, matching the dash and gauges the truck reflects the countless man hours installed to get it to the condition that it is today.

This Jeep is ready for shows or a Sunday cruise, with its manual transmission run it down the highway at 65mph or take it to the trails to see what it was meant to do!

This Jeep will come with multiple awards one at local car shows. This is a military Jeep sold Civilian with very low original miles.

In full disclosure, the items that are not 100% show quality as follows:
-A small run in the paint on the passenger side of the hood. See pictures

Everything works and this Jeep is ready to drive anywhere!

Thanks!

1940s MB with Rocket Launching Kit (Toy) Leetsdale, Pa $139

• CATEGORIES: News This site contains affiliate links for which I may be compensated.

I really couldn’t say just how rare these toys are.  However, there was one for sale in 2007 for only $65 at G503.

I did learn that the jeep on which this was based is called both a Willys MB Calliope or a MB with a Rocket Launcher unit.  I’m sure someone else knows more about this than I.

“DANBURY MINT 40’s Willys World War II ROCKET LAUNCHER Jeep Replica with Detachable and Adjustable Angle Launcher. Produced in 1995. Finished in Olive Drab. Diecast 1:16 Scale.

VERY RARE! Great Collectible for the War Veteran or Military Collector. Beautiful Condition!
If interested, please contact Rose at 724.251.4772 or email a response to this posting.”

Tri-ang(?) Pedal Jeep Bangkok, Thailand

UPDATE: **SOLD** Was on eBay.

I’m guessing by the front grille that this is some type of Tri-ang pedal jeep, based on what I can see from the CJ-3B Page.  The back is different though.  Lots of pics and even a video.
