UPDATE: It turns out that I didn’t have to scoop this up this toy myself after all; Tom from Kentucky obtained it, then mailed it to me. It surely was a cool surprised. In this note to me he mentioned it still runs, so I popped in some D batteries. Sure enough, this jeep still goes backwards and forwards. The only glitch on it is the broken windshield, but I’ll see what I can do to repair it. Many Thanks Tom!

This appears to be a rare Andy Gard G I remote control jeep. If it was near me, I’d scoop it up.

UPDATE: **SOLD** Was $100.

Steve shared this ‘all original’ Tonka Fire Jeep. It appears in good condition, but it’s missing a few items, including the ladder, the hood light, and one of the vertical cylinders on the back bumper.  The rear bumper unit is also bent backwards.

UPDATE Posted July 2020:  It turns out that I I had “Wanna Toy” as two separate words, but the brand name is actually “Wannatoy”. 

From Chriscollectibles.com: Wannatoy, the trademark of Dillon Beck Manufacturing Co., produced toys made of acetate plastic.  Based in New Jersey, they manufactured numerous toy vehicles (as well as doll house furniture, pot and pan sets and possibly other toys) after the end of WWII through the late 1950s.

From “O’Brien’s Collecting Toy Cars & Trucks” book, 1990, “Wannatoy was among the first toy makers off the starting block at the end of World War II. Of the millions of children born during the war, and the millions more who arrived soon afterward, a good percentage played with Wannatoys.

What seems to have been the company’s first offering, the twenty-five-cent futurist Coupe, was a hit toy for Christmas of 1945, selling a million units that season. With streamlined, Deco-influenced body and bible top, the Couple continued to sell well into the 1950s.”

Here’s an ad (thanks to Andy) from 1952 (available on eBay). The ad suggests there were only three colors of wagons, but doesn’t indicate what those were. So far, I’ve identified four colors (red, green, blue, purple … see them at the bottom of this post).

UPDATE: **SOLD** Was $295.

Looks like this Hamilton pedal jeep spotted by Roger Martin has never been restored. The seller’s p# is in one of the images in the ad.

T. Cohn made a wide number of toys, but this is the only example of a jeep that I’ve run across. It’s about 5″ long.

“This is a great hard plastic military jeep which also has a metal base, free rolling wheels and nice detail. It is marked “Made in Gr Britain” on both sides of each wheel and it would appear that this toy is missing a “driver” and an “antenna” ?

This toy has great olive drab marbled hard plastic and the brittle windshield is not damaged. It does not retract and it does not appear that this was intended to do so. There is no glue residue, stressed portions or repairs. This item is offered as found.

The entire toy measures approx. 5 inches long. This toy shows the slightest soiling and it is a very hard to find item. It is offered as found with a number of other vintage hard plastic, diecast metal, rubber and other vehicle related toys. These items all dated from the late 1940’s to the late 1960’s.”
