CJ-5 Surrey

Speaking of unique Surreys, Mike wrote the following Comment:

“Back in 1962, One of my dad’s favorite hangouts, Lee’s tavern on Crooks Ave. in Clifton, NJ bought a special order CJ5 with a pink surrey fringe top and matching upholstery. It was the talk of the town. This Jeep was a double twist on the phrase “special order”. It was a first generation Tuxedo Park model with the featured color scheme of white body with red grille and red wheels, along with the surrey top and seat covers which were installed over stock upholstery at the factory. The local legend story at the time was; He had to wait 6 months for delivery.”

So, I spent some time searching for a CJ-5 Surrey picture. I didn’t find any real ones, but I did find one toy:  A CJ-5 toy from 1960.

At a minimum this is missing a windshield.

“Recently found at an Estate Sale that may or may not have been tobacco free, You will get this Decent, Original and Unrestored Vintage 1950’s /1960’s Tonka 1:18 Scale Willys Jeep in Red as shown.  This saw moderate playwear as shown.  Will make a Great Restoration Candidate!!  Also good for Original Parts too if you just want the wheels or interior.  The 2 tabs that hold the right fender to the hood are out.  The slide trailer hitch is in good working condition.  Has some light surface rust on the wheel caps only, not underneath and not on the axles which are straight and clean.  The Jeep is 9 1/2″ Long bumper to bumper.  Made in USA.  This Jeep is Ready to Restore, Customize, or Part Out once you open the mailing box!  Will make a Great Addition to your Growing Collection . . .”

LeGrand spotted this unusual toddler bed (at least I haven’t seen one).

Standard size crib mattress fits inside ( crib mattress is not included).
The Bed measures 29 x 53 inches. The entrance is 12 – 13 inches above the floor.
I bought this bed for $300, I am only asking $100.

Steve forwarded a picture of the Pinewood Derby jeep his stepson Larry made when he was fourteen.  Steve notes that Larry probably got the idea from looking at Steve’s Jeepster.
