This section used to be split into jeeps, parts and other categories, but recent changes to eBay will require this information to be recoded.

Importantly, the allure of buying a project jeep can be romantic. The reality of restoring a jeep can be quite different, expensive and overwhelming without the right tools and resources. This August 17th, 1948, ad for the Jeepster was published in the Sullivan Daily Times, out of Sullivan, Indiana.
The rustic look is super stylish these days and nothing screams rustic and stylish like this double-decker throwback swamp buggy Roger Martin spotted for us. For only $1000 down and many, many, many more dollars and hours (years?) in labor later, you could enjoy hours of mucky fun in the Florida sunshine, frolicking with gators while wearing waders.

Both of these ads from the Sullivan Daily Times, out of Sullivan, Indiana, cover the features of the jeep, but do so in slightly different ways. The March 18, 1947, ad focuses on the job-task utility aspects of the jeep, how consumers can use the jeep. The July 13, 1948, ad is less about what the jeep can do task-wise and more about what it can bring consumers beyond specific tasks, such as great mileage, physical comfort, and convenience. I have not studied other ads to see if this was a general trend in Jeep advertising (in other words, I do not know if this shift directed by Willys-Overland or something Citizen’s Garage did on their own).

“I have a 63 cj6 I would like to sell. I traded my labor for it. From what I have found out it sits on a 78 wagoner frame, 3.8 v6 engine and transmission from a camero. 4 speed manual transmission. It does have a soft top but I have never had it on. I store it in my garage.”

“This impeccably clean example is the best you can get with a show winning history. This MUTT has undergone a full body off restoration and has a confirmed USMC history. The engine, trans, T case and diffs have all been rebuilt, new fuel system, new wiring harness, breaks and far to many more New OE parts throughout to mention. Very low miles since restoration but has been started and driven regularly.
The MUTT has been garage kept and is car show and parade ready. The rare vinyl top and side curtains are all OE with no defects. This MUTT has been part of a private collection for 15+ years but it is now time for someone else to enjoy her. Pictures of original vehicle and restoration available on request. Vehicle is located 30 miles east of Dallas, TX. Reasonable offers will be considered.”

“1975 Postal Jeep— new paint job, new glass and seals, new slide doors track bearings, nice seats. 232 six cylinder with automatic trans ran ok before we started paint job. Needs battery so won’t run right now. This was a project for dad that he didn’t finish. That’s up to you. Front windshield is new but not put in”
Looks like it might have some of the Selector-Like “Free Lock” hubs. Also has a PTO. Not sure how much value is here.
